4. Now the fun part! 5. Use anything you like to give your festive friend his/her very own identity!
Use our ideas or create one of your very own! For example we used square pieces of different coloured felt to create the crowns and capes for our 3 wise men. Cotton wool was used for our Father Christmas beard and twigs from the garden created our snowman arms.
Use your festive friend to decorate your home and bring some Christmas cheer to this special time of year!
Send us any pictures of festive friends you create this Christmas, we would love to see your ideas!

Keep the children entertained this Christmas holiday with a fun and easy project (and it's also a great use for all those odd socks that we all have at home!)
Any odd sock - (preferably ones without holes!) can be transformed into one of our festive friends in a flash!
What you need Sock, Rubberbands, Rice ( or pulses/beans - but not the baked variety as that could get rather messy!) Parental supervision - rice/beans are a choking hazard, please take care.
This makes the basic friend, now to decide which one you would like to create...
Embellishments Cotton wool, Glue, Ribbon, Felt, Stick on eyes, Pipe Cleaners
Instructions 1. Fill a sock up to the heel with rice (sometimes using a jug to help keep the sock open can help) 2. Using an elastic band, secure the rice in the sock to create the body of your 'friend' - this can then be repeated further up the sock to create further body sections ( example snowman) or the festive friends head. (Please be careful not to tie too tight as when a rubberband goes ping in your eye it really hurts!) 3. When you have secured the rice within the head section with an elastic band, the excess material can be rolled back onto the head to create a smooth surface.
