MEREDITH BERGMANN
Born in Passaic, NJ, Meredith Bergmann is a New York- based poet and sculptor. She received a BFA from The Cooper Union where she won the Eliot Lash Award for Sculpture. Bergmann has exhibited in New York at Exit Art, the National Sculpture Society, Woodlawn Cemetery and Central Park, as well as the deCordova Sculpture Park & Museum, MA, and the Franklin Institute, Philadelphia, PA. She has been commissioned to create public memori- als such as the Boston Women’s Memorial in Boston, MA, and the Memorial to Countee Cullen for the Bronx Council of the Arts. Bergmann was awarded a Brooklyn Historical Society Residency in 2008 and a New York Foundation of the Arts Fellowship in 1997. She has received critical atten- tion from American Arts Quarterly, Sculpture Magazine, The New York Times, The London Guardian, and was highlighted in Judith Dupre’s 2007 book, Monuments: America’s History in Art and Memory.
