The winter season at Eldreds begins with a sale of antiques and art on November 23, 2010 at 11.00am.
The auction include a useful selection of mahogany and oak furniture from the 18th and 19th centuries, also watercolours, oil paintings, ceramics, glass and works of art.
The furniture section includes a pair of oak wainscot chairs in the seventeenth century style, although thought to be later constructed, these are unusual as they rarely appear in pairs and carry a modest estimate of £600 - £800.
Inscribed with the date 1682 and from the same source as the wainscot chairs, is a small six-plank oak coffer of typically simple design with a carved front panel and end
boards extended to form feet. It is estimated at £300 - £400.
Also in the antique furniture sale is an 18th century ebonised bracket clock by London clock maker Henry Hurt which expects £1,000 - £1,500

Two weeks later, on December 7, the Christmas sale of silver and jewellery is packed full of present ideas in all price brackets.
An exceptionally attractive Art Nouveau diamond and aquamarine pendant, beautifully presented in its
fitted box together with a screw-in pin to convert it to a brooch, is estimated at £1,000 - £1,500.
A Victorian emerald and diamond cluster ring seems reasonable at £300 - £400.
With gold and other metal prices at particularly high levels, the numerous chains and bracelets included in this sale are expected to prove popular.
In particular, a gold bracelet set with pearls and amethyst clusters should make £300 -£500.
All in all, a sale well worth viewing.
