Gaining entry into the main event after winning the last qualifi er in the morning, Strumble Lheros Scream 69 from the Feithy herd caught the judge’s eye yet again to win the prestigious competition for 2010, with the 2009 winner

Lifting the Champion of Champions Heifer title
was Castellhyfryd Spirte Rosina. Classifi ed VG88 -2yr, this heifer is jointly owned by breeders at Castellhyfryd and Lliwe. Sired by Cedarwal Sprirte, she completes 10 generations of EX and VG animals and was shown giving over 43 kg a day. Reserve Champion was Eola BG Celicia VG88 -2yr sired by Goldwyn from Tregibby. Calved since April with an Atlas heifer calf, she is the ninth generation of VG/EX.

RICKI TAKES TOP HONOURS AT EXPO T
he annual Northern Expo Holstein Show took place on the evening of Friday 22 October at Borderway Mart, Carlisle. A catalogued entry of over 90 Holsteins from over 30 herds from all over Cumbria, Northumbria, Lancashire, Yorkshire and South West Scotland were presented to this year’s judge, Paul Harrison of the Chishillways herd.
Paul said, “This is one of the best shows I have ever judged with quality right down the line and it was an honour to judge the Show. The cow I selected as my Champion, Errolston Damion Ricki,

owned and bred by Brian, Val and Craig Davidson, is a wonderfully balanced cow that will fi t into any cubicle system.”
The show commenced with the youngest calves led by handlers under 16 years of age. This class was well supported with nine entries forward and the red ticket went to D P & S J Berry of Preston’s Boggart Twine Avril 2.
