New identity revealed for the ILP

The official launch of the Institution of Lighting Professionals (ILP) took place on 22 September, when the new identity was revealed to hundreds of delegates by Alistair Scott, ILP President. The new name supercedes the Institution of Lighting Engineers, which was established over 20 years ago. The main reason for the re-branding, according to Alistair Scott is to ‘modernise the Institution and its image and to provide an organisation that is more relevant to its membership, potential members, the wider public and the future requirements of the profession... The ILP aims to enhance support for the whole profession as with time, we will have greater political influence and resources at our disposal.’

Thorn HQ to move to Spennymoor

Thorn Lighting has announced proposals to relocate UK headquarters from Borehamwood, Hertfordshire to the award winning Thorn plant in Spennymoor, County Durham, which houses 500 staff. The move is designed to improve service levels for Thorn's customers and sales force alike. It is likely that 32 roles across five customer facing departments will transfer to Spennymoor and 11 central marketing positions will relocate to Thorn’s existing studio in central London. Two project management posts will move to parent group offices in Hayes. The company aims to complete this process by the end of December 2010.
