USA—NASCAR, IndyCar... It’s not just left turns!
To European eyes, NASCAR and IndyCar are all about Ovals—and that means turning left, and advert breaks. Well, they are— but there’s just so much more to it these days. From the ‘Super Speedways’ of Daytona, Talladega and Indianapolis to the 1/2 mile tracks to street circuits and venues like Watkins Glen (which used to host the F1 US Grand Prix) both NASCAR and IndyCar lead the way for fan entertainment.
NASCAR’s main events are the season‐opening Daytona 500 (Florida in February, bliss!), events in Las Vegas and Watkins Glen (upstate New York) plus any of the ‘Chase to the Sprint Cup’ which concludes the season, including the awesome Talladega in Alabama.
With IndyCar the calendar is just as diverse, including trips to Mexico, Canada and Japan most seasons. Highlights include the Long Beach Grand Prix, run on a tight street course in California in April and the Indianapolis 500 on Memorial Day weekend in May.
