DOUG EVJEN GENERAL MANAGER PRAIRIE POST,

On behalf of the Maple Creek News-Times, Prairie Post and the Shaunavon Standard welcome to the second annual edition of the Southwest Saskatchewan Progress Report. We trust you’ll find the publication both informative and entertaining.

The purpose of the Southwest Saskatchewan Progress Report is to promote the unique people of our region. Through the stories within we spread the message of how ingenuity and determination makes the southwest not only one of the most innovative regions in Saskatchewan, but in the world.

SHAUNAVONSTANDARD, & MAPLE CREEK NEWS-TIMES

The 2010 Progress Report takes a look at a wide variety of industries, including: business, recreation, arts, tourism and land development.

By applying the 2010 theme of Innovation, Growth, Diversity we created a collection of stories which depict success within the southwest.

In the following pages you'll read about innovative tourism offerings such as Carefree Adventures in Simmie and their kayaking tours; growth in land development with the new Holy Trinity School Division facility in Swift Current; and diversity in secondary services in the oil industry across the southwest.

Our compliments to Gail Jansen of GailForce Writing who, for the second straight year, accomplished the challenging task of writing the stories in the report.
