Pets’ parlour by Tammie
Charlotte’s Web has to be the best book ever if you’re an animal
lover! You can imagine how excited I was to
meet a girl called Fern who is almost as much of a pet-fan as I am! When she stops a piglet from being turned into sausages, it marks the beginning of a very special friendship. She names the pig Wilbur and he soon proves that he is one amazing pig. He can do
backflips, he can escape from his run and Fern can even understand what he’s saying. There are lots of other animals
living in the big barn, like the snooty lambs, the dithering geese and Templeton the intelligent but sneaky rat, but Wilbur feels
lonely. He needs a friend of his own. That’s when he hears a little voice from the rafters saying “Do you want a friend, Wilbur? I’ll be a friend to you. I’ve
watched you all day and I like you.” The voice belongs to Charlotte, a wise and kind spider, and the two animals become very good friends. In fact, when Wilbur’s contented life is threatened it’s Charlotte who comes up with the most amazing plan to rescue him!
If you like animals as much as
Fern and I do, I think you’ll find that Charlotte’s Web will become one of your favourite stories and one you’ll read over and over again!
Truffle hunters use pigs to root out these valuable delicacies. Unfortunately pigs like to eat truffles too, so their owners have to watch out!
That
would be like taking me on a doughnut hunt!
