Joshua Bosman (11) has loads of fun playing

football, acting and singing so we bet he was

laughing out loud

reading his top puffin – The Hundred-Mile-an-

Hour-Dog!

The Hundred-Mile-an- Hour-Dog is... Irresistibly funny.

Who is your favourite character?

Streaker because she’s like me and annoys everyone.

Why should other Puffineers read this book?

The laughs, the adventure, the excitement – it just about has everything!

Why should The Hundred-Mile-an-Hour-Dog be crowned the Puffin of Puffins?

Because it’s one of the greatest and most exciting laugh-out-loud books ever!

Vote for your Puffin of Puffins! Which of these top Puffin titles is the

Puffineer favourite? It’s up to you to decide. Vote online on Puffin Island www.puffinpost.co.uk or send your vote to Freepost Ptolemy’s Pteam HQ by 4th August 2010.

Curly-haired Lucy Reeves (8) is a keen swimmer and a huge fan of books – especially the Harry Potter and Magic Faraway Tree series, and of course, Artemis Fowl!

Artemis Fowl is...

A young criminal, who tries to meet a fairy, a leprechaun and a sprite to find out fairy rules and secrets from their book, but he gets into trouble with the LEP (the fairy police).

Who is your favourite character?

Captain Holly Short, a fairy that works for the LEP. She’s always getting into trouble, but gets away with what she does.

Why should other Puffineers read this book?

Artemis’s adventures are so risky you can never put this book down! You can also learn to be devious like Artemis Fowl!

Why should Artemis Fowl be crowned the Puffin of Puffins?

The story seems so real, every so often you have to put the book down to imagine yourself doing stuff the characters do. You get through this book really quickly. I ended up reading about 20 pages every night.

Imagine

books being rationed.

When Puffin first started publishing books in 1940 it was difficult to find enough paper to print books because of the paper rationing that had been introduced during World War II.

That’s almost as scary a thought as doughnut rationing!
