What’s your favourite book you’ve written so far?
Always the one I have just finished.
What was your favourite book when you were a child?
Tales of the Greek Heroes retold by Roger Lancelyn Green. I’ve always loved myths and legends, they’re such great stories, but very cruel.
Do you have any writing tips for our Puffineers?
Writing is the same as any skill. The more you do it the better you get at it. Write a lot and read a lot. See how other writers do it. Write the sort of book you’d like to read. Don’t worry about page one – just get on and write. When you’ve finished you can go back and rewrite the beginning to get it right.
How to spot
a zombie • Because most zombies have risen from their graves, they’re likely to be very dirty and show signs of what killed them
• Zombies can usually be identified by their
wild, staring white eyes and shuffling gait
• Because zombies are impervious to harm, even if they have damaged or lost their legs they will drag themselves towards their prey
• Even if you think you recognise a zombie as being someone you know, DO NOT APPROACH THEM. They are not the person they used to be and are likely to be after your BRAIN!
Either/Or them with you. So – books.
Children or adults? Children. I like to make children the heroes of my books, and make adults the villains. Kids like that.
Zombies or vampires?
No contest – zombies. They are cool and scary and you can splatter their brains out – they’re nasty. Vampires are wet and keep falling in love and aren’t scary at all.
Books or TV?
As I work in both it’s hard to say, except you can read books anywhere and always have
Humour or horror? Humour probably, when it comes down to it, we all need a good laugh. My new book Monstroso, is a funny book. I hope kids find it as funny as I do.
Batman or Spiderman?
Batman. He’s mean and moody and tough, Spiderman is just an annoying teenager.
Town or country? Ah… can I have both please?
Home or holiday?
Same again. You can’t have one without the other.
Some people who believe in voodoo think that dead people can be revived by sorcerors and turned into zombies – creatures who walk around like humans but have no will of their own.
Don’t have nightmares Puffineers, most people agree that zombies only exist in fiction!
