Razorbacks Sixth Grade Team Wins State Championship

submitted by Mary Collins The Razorbacks sixth-grade team earned the state title with a tough-fought battle, 8-6, over the Salem Rams. The Razorback defense was the story of the game, coming up big with a game- saving goal line stand. Playing outstanding defense for the razorbacks were Shawn Sweeny, Parker Belsky, Kyle Champagne, Devon Russell, Victor Pizzotti, Patrick Collins, and Jacob Brown. The special teams came up big with some great snaps by

Matthew Bedient and booming punts by Pizzotti. The Razorback offense struggled for the first time this year, as Salem came ready to play great defense. Playing great for the Razorback offense were Cam Santos, Timothy Anderson, Conor Halloran, Matthew Burke, and Thomas Hanifan. The lone score was by Pizzotti on an 80-yard sweep set up by a great block from Anderson. The Razorbacks head to Rhode Island next week in the first round of the New England Regionals.

Varsity Razorbacks Win State Championship Pelham-Windham eighth-grade Varsity State Champs Shane Lafond breaks off the tackle for the score

submitted by Brian McLarney, Head Coach The Pelham-Windham eighth-grade team won the State Championship this weekend, 14-6, against the Hudson Bears. Before the season began, we all knew it would come down to this game, with both teams undefeated and playing at the top of their games. The schedule gods not feeling it was necessary to let them play during the season added to the anticipation. What we did not know was that our leading running back would be sidelined with an injury hours before the game and unable to play. Hudson was looking for revenge for previous years’ losses to the Razorbacks, and came out flying high. The Razorbacks responded by proving they are a very deep team, with all the other players stepping up to make up for the loss of their teammate. Shane Lafond and Ryan Rondeau ran very hard, making tough first downs all game. Lafond scored the first Razorback touchdown on a hard run, and Rondeau made a fantastic catch on a throw from Brendan McGuiness for the second Razorback score. Kellin Bail ran all over the Bears and did a great job controlling the offense all game. Meanwhile, the Razorback defense was keeping Hudson off the scoreboard until late in the fourth quarter. Gavin “Revis” Anderson was on his island all day, tackling anybody who stepped foot on it, and Rondeau and Dylan “Rags” Ragonese made game-saving interceptions at the end of the game. The victory made it the fourth Razorback team of the day to win a State Championship, making it a clean sweep by the boys from Pelham and Windham.
