submitted by Coach Longo The fourth-grade Razorbacks took home the state championship at Stellos Stadium in Nashua on Halloween with some tricks, as well as a whole lot of treats, for their fans and each other. Facing a hungry Hudson Bear team, the Razorbacks started on defense and forced the Bears into a punt that was returned 40 yards by Cody Stevens as he followed Blake Woekel’s blocking down the sideline to set the Razorbacks up at the Bears’ 30. But the Bears came out strong on defense, too, forcing the Razorbacks into a fourth and long, where it was the combination of Cam Homsey, Tommy Emrick, and AJ Caggianelli, who converted a classic hook and ladder from “Bomber” to “Cag” and the game’s first touchdown, as Caggianelli shook off three Bears to gallop into the end zone. Then, it was the familiar combination of Homsey to Stevens on the conversion and a quick 7-0 Razorback lead. On defense, the Razorback Bulls, led by Jason Rutherford and Brandan Mercier, kept the Bears stifled and as the Bears got close, it was Charlie Beneze and friends Brett Lindsay, Emrick, Garrett Hitchens, and Homsey, as Homsey forced a fumble that was scooped up by Emrick. On the next series, the Bears had the Razorbacks pinned on their own five-yard line, and it was Caggianelli time again as he took a sweep around the right end, crossed Emrick in the backfield, and kept it following Homsey for a 95-yard TD run and a 13-0 Razorback lead. The Razorback defense continued to hit all day as Noah Lynch, Lindsay, Ryan Marotta, and Deven “LT” DeBay were in the Bear backfield, with Lindsay laying a crushing hit on a Bear handoff that was scooped up by Caggianelli and brought back 55 yards for his third touchdown of the day and a huge 19-0 Razorback lead. The Razorbacks weren’t done, as the defense held the Bears to limited yards once again; this time led by Emrick, Mercier, and Jacoby Pratt, all making key tackles and getting the ball back to the Razorbacks. Then, it was Marotta and his Boars’

turn to hit the end zone as Gannon Fast, DeBay, Thalan Berger-Benoit, Nicolas Torres, Shane Regan, Robbie Furman, Jake Cragen, Nathan Binette, Owen Haskins, and Cody Stevens set up a huge wall for Marotta to sprint into the end zone and a 25-0 halftime lead for the Razorbacks. In the second half, it was all defense, as the Razorbacks wanted to keep their shutout streak alive. The Razorbacks defense kept the Bears off the scoreboard as Lindsay, Beneze, Mercier, Riley Perrin, Devyn Tucci, Riley Millette, and others continued the stonewall efforts to preserve the 25-0 victory and back-to-back fourth-grade State Championships.

Next up for this squad is the New England Regionals, where they will await their next opponent from either Massachusetts or Connecticut.
