Young Professionals Group Kicks Off at Oktoberfest
by Aaron Shamshoyan Helping Young Professionals Excel (HYPE), the Salem community’s new young professionals group, held their kick-off event on Thursday evening at Canobie Lake Park’s Oktoberfest. The event was well attended, with both young and established professionals from the greater Salem community. The event involved raffles, a German Oom-pah band, networking, a tribute to Prince, and a chance to win a trip to Germany. The winner of a 10-minute speech from a past event, Erika Stewart of Prudential Verani Reality, gave tips for first-time homebuyers about down payments and how low mortgage interest rates currently are. Co-chair Kristen Vadala presented prizes, including a pair of Blue Man Group tickets and Manchester Fisher Cats tickets.
HYPE is a sub-committee of the Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce, and focuses on helping young professionals excel in their careers by organizing events that promote professional development and relationship building within the community. Anyone is welcome to attend the functions, regardless of age. Some upcoming events include a Social Media Lunch n’ Learn, which will be held November 17 at 12 p.m. in Windham at Coffee Roasters Café, and the Holiday Party on December 4. Soule Students Spend Memorable Day with Grandparents
by Robyn Hatch Soule School once again held a Grandparents – Special Friends
Day for the students. This time was almost a record with 230 students. The school was freshly decorated with pumpkins and Halloween decorations, and home-cooked food was in the gym and in many of the classrooms. The students could be seen with smiles on their faces, and the grandparents had smiles just as big as the kids. This was a special day for all, and it was extremely special for the kids to spend time with their family and special friends. When the world tends to be going too fast, this day gave everyone a good moment to just slow down and really enjoy family.
