14 - October 29, 2010
submitted by Jean Picard It was an exciting year for the Litchfield Middle School (LMS) girls’ soccer team. With only seven returning eighth graders and three seventh graders, the team was made up of 10 sixth graders and four fifth graders. With such a young team, this being the first time that they had played 11 v 11, it was looking like it was going to be a rebuilding year. Also, during the season, the team was in the process of looking for donations for new uniforms. The money was raised from various donations from the families on the team and some business donations coming from Ac-cue-Rate Billiards, Apple Tree Orthodontics, Daigle Servicing Company, and Paul W.

Litchfield Middle School Girls’ Soccer Finishes in Second Place
Golas, DMD, and the team had raised enough money for new uniforms. This seemed to be the turning point in the season. The girls went on to win the next three games and tied the last one to secure the fifth-place seed in the playoffs. The girls went on to beat Sanborn, the third-place team in the first round of playoffs, and then went on to beat Raymond, the first-place team, which secured them a spot in the final game against Cawley of Hooksett. The girls played hard and never gave up, but came up short, 3-1, to Cawley. The girls really came together and played as a team, and these girls really understood the meaning of teamwork and played ‘til the last whistle blew. The parents really enjoyed watching the girls play and look forward to next season.
