Car Crash Results in Two Arrests
by Andrea Ganley-Dannewitz A motor-vehicle accident
that occurred Tuesday, October 19, on Brady Avenue resulted in several injuries and two men under arrest.
According to police, the Donald Giberson
crash happened around 4:16 p.m. and involved a Ford Escape traveling northbound and a Ford pick-up truck traveling southbound. The operator
of the Ford pick-up crossed the center line at the intersection of Brady Avenue and Cindy Avenue and struck the Ford Escape nearly head-on, according to Salem Police Deputy Chief Shawn Patten. The Ford Escape collided with a utility pole as a result of the accident.
Salem Fire Department responded to the scene
and treated several people for injuries. Police say the operator of the Ford pick-up truck was at fault and during a field interview was given a field sobriety test at the scene. That subject, identified as Donald Giberson, 41, of Salem, failed the test and according to Patten, Giberson’s blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit. He was subsequently arrested as a result and is charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated. He was released on a summons, pending arraignment at Salem District Court. During the investigation into the crash and while interviewing those involved, it was learned that the operator of the Ford Escape was operating with a suspended license. That subject is identified as James Stubblefield, 31, of Hampton. He was charged with operating after suspension and was also released on a summons, pending arraignment at Salem District Court. According to Salem police, both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Police May Have Break in Burglary Cases after Two Arrests Made
by Andrea Ganley- Dannewitz A detail officer working
Domenic DiZazzo
at a construction site on Brookdale Road was aware of a “be on the lookout” that Derry Police Department put out to local police agencies regarding burglary suspects wanted out of their jurisdiction, but what he didn’t expect is
the suspects to drive right past him on Brookdale Road on Friday, October 22. The officer witnessed the blue, older-model
Toyota Celica wanted in the burglaries in Derry drive past him heading north on Brookdale Road around 2:30 p.m. He called it out over the radio and numerous officers responded. The vehicle had been seen heading towards North Policy Street.
“While responding, Salem police dispatchers
received a call from a resident of Brookdale Road reporting that a suspicious male subject knocked on her door. When she answered, he asked for directions and then went the opposite way in which she had instructed him to go. Responding Salem officers located the vehicle and after a brief pursuit stopped the vehicle in the area of Wildwood Lane,” Deputy Police Chief Shawn Patten said. While officers were out on Wildwood Lane
with the two suspects who put up a struggle and resisted officers’ attempts to be taken into
Richard Cloutier
custody, a resident from 96 Brookdale Road contacted police reporting that their residence had been burglarized. Detectives responded to that location to investigate the burglary. The two suspects, Domenic DiZazzo, 25, of Fremont and Richard Cloutier, 25, of Derry,
are both facing numerous charges related to burglaries in Derry, as well as the charges from Salem. Both were wanted for burglary out of Derry, and both face charges of resisting arrest and possession of burglary tools. Cloutier is also being charged with being a felon in possession of a dangerous weapon, and DiZazzo is also charged with operating a motor vehicle after suspension of driver’s license. Deputy Chief Patten says it is possible these two
could be responsible for many of the burglaries Salem has seen this year. “The two suspects were taken into custody
after a brief struggle and the vehicle was seized for the execution of a search warrant by Salem detectives. The case remains open and active, and Salem detectives continue to work with other area agencies to solve the rash of recent burglaries. Both suspects were held on $10,000 cash bail and a probation detainer pending arraignment at Salem District Court,” Patten said.

into the sales of narcotic street drugs last Friday. Deputy Police Chief Shawn Patten made the announcement after Elvis Perez- Gonzales, 36, of Salem, who had been under surveillance since May, was arrested by detectives and patrol officers on Thursday afternoon in the area of Cluff Crossing Road. Gonzales-Perez allegedly sold
cocaine to an undercover police officer in May and June, with an additional buy set up for August. Patten said that arrest warrants were sought in connection with the illegal narcotic sales, but that Gonzales-Perez had allegedly evaded police since becoming aware of the situation. Surveillance efforts were intensified and Gonzales-Perez was arrested in the Shaw’s parking lot on Cluff Crossing Road at 3:46 p.m. by Salem detectives, with the assistance of the Salem Police Department’s Patrol Division. Patten says he was taken into custody without incident and his vehicle was seized and brought back to Salem Police Department for detectives to execute a search warrant on the vehicle. Elvis Gonzales-Perez’s bail
was set at $5,000 cash pending arraignment at Salem District Court. He faces two counts of felony sales of narcotic drugs. Patten says the case currently remains under investigation with additional charges possibly forthcoming.
