of the non-profit Horses as Healers, an organization she founded in 2002. She has a Masters degree in psychology from The New School for Social Research and 31 years experience with horses. She is also a member of NARHA, the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association. Fitzgerald believes the magic lies with horses’ emotional intelligence. “Horses are smart and they are excellent mirrors of our emotional state,” she says,

Respect means that all students are expected to show concern for themselves, others, and property. Students are encouraged to treat others as they want to be treated. Progress means that no matter what the student’s difficulties are, they are expected to work hard to make them better.
