Darcy began volunteering at UVA Hospital as a Junior Volunteer in 2007 and says it has been the most significant experience of her life.

with leukemia, and another with cancer, Darcy was prompted to lead teams for “Light the Night” for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and she created a 5K run to raise money for cancer awareness. Darcy began volunteering at UVA Hospital as a Junior Volunteer in 2007 and says it has been the most significant experience of her life. She has devoted over 350 hours and was honored as the “Above and Beyond” volunteer. “I realized that I love patient contact; being a light in a hurting person’s life can brighten someone’s day.” Darcy entered the UVA School of Nursing this fall and plans a career in serving others, with compassion and skill.
