Medical centers offer free car seat clinic New treatment available for fibroids

ROCK STARS: One Minute Millionaires, a band representing Chandler Police Department, will be part of the 100 Club Fundraiser Oct. 23.
The One Minute Millionaires, a band with members from the Chandler Police Department, will be part of a fundraiser to benefi t the 100 Club of Arizona from 6 p.m. to midnight Sat., Oct. 23 at Alice Cooperstown, 101 E. Jackson St. in Phoenix. The Chandler band, which includes an offi cer, a sergeant, a dispatch supervisor and a civilian band member, will take part in a Battle of the Bands benefi t at 6:30 p.m., which features bands from other area police and fi re departments. The One Minute Millionaires, comprised of Offi cer Mike on lead vocals and bass guitar; Sgt. Pete on drums; Dispatcher Mark, guitar and keyboard; and civilian Wayne on lead guitar and back up vocals, will play classic rock during the event. In addition, there will be a comedy act and both silent and live auctions as part of the benefi t program.
The 100 Club of Arizona is a nonprofi t organization that provides fi nancial assistance to police offi cers and fi refi ghters involved in personal tragedies. The cost is $10 per person. For information, call 623-253-7337.
To educate parents and caregivers on proper installation of children’s safety seats, Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert medical centers will host a free car seat clinic from 9 a.m. to noon Sat., Nov. 6 in the east parking lot of Mercy Gilbert Medical Center. Certifi ed child safety technicians will ensure that car seats are installed correctly and are appropriate for the age, height and weight of the child. Registration is required for the event.
The clinic is hosted in collaboration with the Chandler and Gilbert fi re departments, Safe Kids and the Phoenix Suns Charities.

In addition, the Women’s Imaging Center at Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert medical centers now offer uterine fi broid embolization (UFE) as a treatment option for women with symptomatic uterine fi broids. Symptoms of such fi broids can include heavy menstrual bleeding, painful periods, pelvic pressure, frequent urination, pain during intercourse and lower back pain.
UFE is a minimally invasive procedure that can preserve the uterus and greatly reduce recovery time compared to other treatment options. The effects on fertility and pregnancy have not yet been determined, and women who are pregnant or who want to become pregnant should not have the procedure. For additional

About 40 Chandler neighborhoods will come together for this year’s G.A.I.N. events from 1 to 8:30 p.m. Sat., Oct. 23.
Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods, also known as National Night Out, is an annual program that encourages residents to get together in their communities to promote safety and neighborhood communication. Chandler police offi cers from Patrol, Motors, K-9s, the Special Assignment Unit,
Firearms Unit, Community Services and more will attend neighborhood parties and be available to answer questions. Department specialty equipment will be on display at various venues.
