City’s success built on good schools

We urge your support for the Chandler Unified School District Bond Election November 2. Vision, dedication and hard work have made CUSD a premier District in the state and country. The majority of our residents do not have children in school and are unaware of the superb leadership, staff and facilities, which has produced outstanding students and responsible money management for taxpayers.

The business acumen of the financial staff is the envy of other Districts. Chandler Unified School District has utilized bonding capabilities from our Legislature, which provides minimum funding for programs, pupil/teacher ratio, building and maintaining facilities. We take great pride that Chandler Unified School District has some of the oldest schools in the state; well built at the time of construction and the District has worked hard to maintain and remodel them, as well as build new ones. This has been a contributing factor for our academic and financial success. The bottom line is we must be willing to continue these standards and spend an additional few dollars per year on property taxes to make it happen. Barbara and Norman Knox, Chandler

Desire to serve Hartke’s motive

Chandler’s voters will soon have the opportunity to decide who will represent them on the City Council.

I am endorsing and helping Kevin Hartke. I have known Kevin for a long time and also had the opportunity to work with him during his previous time on Council. I believe he is exactly what people want in their elected officials. He is honest and fair. His motive for running for office is not selfish or egotistical. Instead it stems from his sincere desire to serve people and his community. Kevin’s service did not begin when he announced his campaign. It is longstanding and includes many positions including leading the City’s efforts on the census, being appointed to the Planning and Zoning Commission and being selected to fill a temporary vacancy on the Council. His desire to serve on the City Council is just one more step in a long history of volunteerism. Trinity Donovan, Chandler, Chandler city councilmember

Wallace for council There are several reasons why I support Donna Wallace for Chandler City Council Member.

Personal integrity: in the 16 years that she has served as an elected public official, she has always put the interest of the community first. She has returned countless gifts that special interest groups

have attempted to give her. Knowledge and hard work: Donna thoroughly researches everything. She has a good understanding of budget, taxes, public safety and quality of life issues. Critical issues facing the City of Chandler: She is strong on economic growth, but is a fiscal conservative. Donna is a servant to the citizens, she listens to all concerns and issues and she follows through until all the constituent questions have been answered. I have known Donna for 30 years. She will be dedicated to the Chandler Community, she will be an independent thinker, she will not make promises that she cannot keep.

Please join me in voting for Donna Wallace for Chandler City Council. Patti Bruno, Chandler

Mayor endorses Hartke There is still one remaining seat to be selected for the Chandler City Council. I strongly recommend Kevin Hartke to fill this position.

I have served this community for many years on both the Council and as mayor. During that time, I have had the chance to work with many people, including both candidates for this open seat. Without hesitation, I support Kevin.

Kevin is truly a fiscal conservative. He understands how important our business community, both large and small, is to our City’s success. He is out serving our neighborhoods, devoting countless hours

volunteering his time and energy. Kevin isn’t just a “talker,” he is a “doer.” Also, Kevin is a proven problem solver. With all of the dissention and discord in politics today, it is refreshing to see someone who wants to work cooperatively rather than be a divisive force on the Council.

Kevin Hartke is the best choice for the Chandler City Council. Please join me in voting for him by early ballot or on November 2.

Boyd Dunn, Germann Estates, Chandler mayor

Hartke ‘written book’ on service

Being elected to the city council is an opportunity to serve citizens. Plain and simple. Kevin Hartke has written the book on helping others. His entire life models the message of community service. Additionally, his financial business and budget experience, his endless compassion toward others, his role as an effective mediator in conflict-resolution, and previous decision-making experience on the city council, committees, and commissions, says everything I need to know. There is no choice but to cast my vote for Kevin Hartke.
