A slice of the Old West lifestyle will be on display at the inaugural Chandler Chuck Wagon Cook-Off held at Tumbleweed Ranch from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sat., Nov. 13. This old-fashioned culinary competition is expected to draw competitive teams from across the western United States. Contestants will prepare their vittles from authentic chuck wagons, employing cooking methods and utensils in the style of those used in 1880s cattle drives. Meals will be available for purchase. Featured entertainment includes Marshal Pioneer Pepper and the Sunset Pioneers – billed as “the greatest, funniest, bestest cowboy stage show around” – and local vocalist Laurie Fagen. The event also features family activities and shopping opportunities. The Chandler Museum is coordinating the event. Tumbleweed Ranch is located at Tumbleweed Park at McQueen and Germann roads in Southern Chandler.

Oct. 16 - Nov. 5, 2010 Cook-Off brings Old West to Chandler Woofstock draws dog lovers
Families and their canine pals are invited to Woofstock, the Great Chandler Dog Walk, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sat., Nov. 20 at Tumbleweed Park in Chandler. The free, family-friendly spectacle features a pet costume parade, raffle prizes, interactive demonstrations, dog massages, a pet psychic, a mini bark park and the Great Chandler Dog Walk, for which a small registration fee is required.
Sponsors of the event are the City of Chandler, the American Service Animal Society and Maricopa County Animal Care & Control.
