Kelli’s Wyrds of Wyzdom

Kelli’s Wyrds of Wyzdom …… I can remember the first few weeks of preschool for my daughter just like it was yesterday, even though my eldest is going into high school and my youngest is still in elementary school. For me the most memorable part of this process was giving my daughter a piece of my hair to take with her on her first day, and seeing how she was comforted by knowing that I was with her even in my absence. As a I mother feel like I graduated into a

new phase of my life and my dear little one went out into the world to be embraced by her peers.

The first days of school are often feared by the little ones and even by us as parents,

because there are so many possibilities and the idea of being apart from them for so long can be hard in the beginning, for some of us can bring a bit of the jitters. So I thought, why not share some of our favorite rituals to help ease the transition. I have used them with both of my kids and now pass them onto my clients and they grow and evolve into new practices as each parent takes them on. I know that you will find your way, with or without these tips but it is my hope that they help you to feel positive about this wonderful right of passage, where you both will be reborn.

1. Give your little one something of yours to take to school with them. 2. Visit your local library and borrow books about having fun at preschool. 3. Pick out clothes and accessories for the first week. 4. Talk about a typical preschool day. 5. Take a trip to the preschool and play around. 6. Keep on smiling no matter what.
