BUCkEyE BRIEFs Ohio’s Country Journal Trupointe, headquartered in Piqua, is


officially began operation in 26 Ohio and three Indiana counties after the successful consolidation of two long-time area agri- culture and energy cooperatives. Forty-five Advanced Agri-Solutions and Southwest Landmark branch locations throughout western and central Ohio and eastern Indiana make up the company. “With the combined employee base, we


are able to provide more resources and expertise for our more than 4,300 mem- bers,” said farmer and chairman of Trupointe’s Board of Directors John Waymire. The cooperative will offer a full line of


products, services and expertise in the areas of: Agronomy - fertilizer, crop protec- tion and seed treatments; Energy - propane and liquid fuel; Farm and Home – lawn and garden, home and pet supply; Feed - commercial, club livestock and horses; Grain – marketing and risk management; and Turf - landscape and nursery.


People OFBF AgriPOWER Institute Twenty Ohioans interested in becoming


future leaders and advocates for Ohio agri- culture have been selected by the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) to partici- pate in its 2010-2011 AgriPOWER institute. OFBF launched AgriPOWER in 2008 as an elite training program. The yearlong pro- gram consists of seven two- to three-day training sessions that focus on public poli- cy issues confronting agriculture and the food industry. Topics covered include public policy


issues facing local communities, the state of Ohio, the nation and the world. Specific sessions help class members develop important skills necessary to becoming an effective leader and advocate, including spokesperson and media training, eti- quette training, social networking, com- munications and more.
