Enabling the workforce for the 21st century
WE BELIEVEhere at the Harris Academy Peckham that students should spend three years
at KeyStage 3. This increased time at Key Stage 4will have anumber of benefits. Firstly, there is an extra year of study.Secondly, students can taketheir exams at anytime over the three years so reducing the pressure in Year 11. Once theyhavecompleted their courses successfullythey can move onto more advanced levels or choose another option. This means that students’ courses are personalised to their ability and it is very easy to ‘fast track’ the more able. We offer afull range of both vocational and academic courses. All our students will takeone vocational subject as
studying for their GCSEs not the normal two. Therefore from September 2011 theywill onlyspendtwo years
this provides valuable skills to enable them to takeuptheir place in the workforce of the 21st Century. Our specialist facilities are unique and include aworking garage (motor mechanics) a training kitchen (hospitality and catering) and afully operational hair and beauty salon. These courses runalongside the more traditional vocational areas of business studies, performing arts,
science, ICT and technology. Academic courses include history, geography, religious studies, sociology, media, music, artand modernforeign languages.
