Principal DevonHanson responded: “Helping our pupils to ‘Be the best that you can be’ really does govern everything we do.”


Best ever exam results In 2010, Walworth pupils achievedtheir best ever exam success, with 60% of pupils gaining five GCSEs including English and maths, up a third on the previous year.75% of pupilsachievedfiveA*-Cpasses overall. The academyisdetermined to continue to improve achievement so that everypupil gains the qualifications that will enable them to go on to higher education. Continuous professional training helps teachers to makeevery lesson outstanding. Extra revision classesand specialist coaching helppupils stretchtheir potential.


New sixthform Walworth Academywelcomed its first sixth formstudents in September 2010, including manyformer year 11 pupils whosigned up to staywith the school that has giventhem so much.


Astunning new building In JanuaryWalworthopened its wonderful, light-filled newbuilding bringing together the upper and lowerschools on one site overlooking Burgess Park.

In their letter to students in June, Ofsted wrote: “We share your viewthat the teachers are extremelywell led by the principal and that theywork tirelesslyonyour behalf.We can see whyyou feel safe, extremelywell cared for and proud of the academy.”
