American Gaming Association Turning 10 G2E 2010 PREVIEW

It’s hard to believe that Global Gaming Expo (G2E) will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. It seems like only yesterday that we were walking into the Las Vegas Convention Center for the inaugural event. We started that first show with a commitment to creating an event “by the industry and for the industry,”and by staying true to that goal, we have been able to create some- thing that is ahead of the curve and THE place for the entire gaming industry to gather for cutting- edge technology, valuable networking opportuni- ties and unmatched educational programming. In the past decade, there have been countless

innovations that have changed the face of the gaming industry. TITO has eliminated the sound of clinking coins and streamlined the way gaming machines pay customers; non-gaming amenities are no longer just a key component of Las Vegas Strip properties—now they are vital to casinos of all sizes and in every jurisdiction; and server- based gaming is poised to change the makeup of casino floors worldwide. G2E has been at the forefront of these

changes and played a major role in bringing these trends and products to the market. Through the years, we have responded to new trends—and to feedback from our attendees— by adding features like F&B at G2E and the Entertainment Arena and tailoring our confer- ence content to embrace current issues and the needs of the gaming industry. This year is no different, as G2E is introduc-

ing a number of features that reflect where the industry is headed in the next 10 years. For example, the iGaming Congress debuts this year as a two-day conference addressing the potential impact of internet gambling legalization and advising casinos on how best to take advantage of the new opportunities internet gambling could provide. Each year,we listen to our attendees’ feedback

in order to modify and improve the educational opportunities available at G2E, and this year we have updated our conference content with new speakers offering fresh perspectives on the hottest

topics in gaming today. Specifically, this year’s conference tracks have been carefully developed to provide practical advice for effectively operat- ing your business in the current economic cli- mate, and new sessions have been added to address the latest trends, such as networked gam- ing and marketing through social media. Attendee feedback also drove changes to the Advanced Gaming Institute, which will feature interactive, workshop-style sessions for the most immersive education experience possible. Also new this year is an exclusive Conference

Keynote by Gary Loveman, the president, CEO and chairman of Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc. One of the industry’s most innovative leaders, he will share his insights on why addressing misin- formation about gaming needs to be one of the industry’s highest priorities. In addition to the top-flight educational

opportunities, G2E once again will provide its attendees with the opportunity to experience the newest products that gaming has to offer on a show floor that is second to none. There has been one constant during G2E’s first

10-year run—the support of the Las Vegas Convention Center, the show’s home during its first, formative decade. The Convention Center has been essential to the show’s success, and the staff at the facility deserves the thanks of the entire gaming industry for their hard work on our behalf. As G2E opens its second decade in the Sands

Expo and Convention Center next year,we look for- ward to an equally fruitful partnership that will take G2E to the next level for exhibitors and attendees. First and foremost, G2E’s success has been

built by listening to our attendees and exhibitors and designing the show for you. If you’re looking for an inside look at the newest products, the edu- cation you need to succeed or the opportunity to network with industry leaders, key buyers and suppliers, you’ll find all of it at G2E 2010. I hope to see you in Las Vegas to celebrate

what G2E, and the gaming industry as a whole, has accomplished during the last decade and catch a glimpse of what the next 10 years could bring!
