HOW TO

HIFF HIFF.ORG 08 MORE THAN

JUST FILMS (Is there anything to do in between shows?)

Festival patrons can catch up with friends, talk about films, and catch a bite to eat, all while being a few steps away from their next film. The HIFF Cafe will feature fresh food, a convenient location and free wifi. It will also host our ‘Buzz Sessions’ where guest filmmakers can hold informal chats about their films.

THE VENUES (Where does all of this happen?)

Screenings for The Hawaii International Film Festival take place at the Regal Dole Cannery Stadium 18 Theaters and IMAX, a world class viewing experience. Regal Dole Cannery houses HIFF in 6 top of the line auditoriums including two of their biggest and all equipped with THX certified sound. An additional screening will be held at the Doris Duke Theatre located at the Honolulu Academy of Arts, and we will also be returning for one screening at Sunset on the Beach located in Waikiki.

TICKETING

(I’ve ordered my tickets, how to I get physical copies in my hand?)

You will need a printed ticket to enter the theater and you have several options on how to get them.

Will Call: If you’ve placed an order for your tickets and purchased them over the phone, you will have received a confirmation from us. Your ticket orders will be waiting for you at the box office

Print over the internet: For the ultimate in convenience, you can buy your tickets online and print them from home. These tickets (you’ll recognize them by the bar code and film title) are valid for admission to the theater.

Buy tickets in person: We will have a box office facility on site. Walk in with a plan for which films you want to watch and walk out with tickets in your hand. The box office is located at the HIFF Main Office for advance purchase or at the Guest

Services Counter at Dole Cannery Theaters Stadium 18 for day of show sales

THE EVENT LAYOUT (What does the festival look like?)

The lines for each film may be the first thing you see when you come to an event (especially if it’s a mob). The crowd is separated into nine (or so) lines, right outside the theater lobby.

Understanding the lines is critical to navigating HIFF. Three movies line up at a time. For each movie, there are three lines (3 movies x 3 lines = 9 lines). Each line will indicate which movie is queuing up and which ticket type should be standing in that line. (Check your ticket type carefully).

Additionally, for shows that SELL OUT, we form a RUSH LINE that still offers an opportunity to watch the film.

HIFF volunteers will be stationed at several places around the floor to assist you. We’ll have people at the information desk, at the rear of the lines, at the lobby door and at the theater doors.
