team hosted Bow last Wednesday, September 29, and lost by the count of 3-0. Campbell played some solid defense in the first 40 minutes, as the score was tied 0-0 at halftime. Bow, however, came out of the
break strong and ripped off three goals over the course of the second half. One bright spot on the day for Campbell was that goalkeeper Tyler Germond played well in front of the net as he turned away 17 shots on goal for saves. Despite the loss, the Cougars

would rebound when they traveled to Raymond on Monday, October 4. The Cougars held a 1-0 advantage at halftime, thanks to a goal by Andrew Schibly at 16:30. Jacob Mercier provided the assist on the play. Schibly would provide another
goal almost 10 minutes into the second half, this time unassisted. Errol Fuertes then tacked on an insurance goal to push Campbell’s lead to 3-0, which would be the final. John Hinckley also contributed an assist on the score by Fuertes, while Germond had another strong game in goal as he recorded five

by Sue LaRoche Football The Broncos never got on track this week against the Dover Green
Wave. The game originally scheduled for Friday night was changed to Saturday due to the torrential rains in the area on Friday. The Broncos took a difficult, 48-0 loss. Alvirne managed only two yards in the first half compared to 188 for Dover, and they went into the half down 28-0. The Broncos managed just under 100 yards of offense for the game. One bright spot for the Bronco defense was an interception by Sean Sipsey. Alvirne drops to 0-5 on the season (0-4 in Division II) and will host Division 3 Pelham on October 15. Boys’ Cross Country The Alvirne boys’ cross-country team competed at Woods Trail
Run in Thetford, VT, on Saturday, October 2. Sixty-three teams from all around New England and beyond competed in this event and the Alvirne boys’ team finished in 36th place. Caleb Donnelly finished 30th overall with a time of 18 minutes flat. The remaining six finishers for Alvirne were Chris Low (19:30), Cody Ross (19:51), Matt Gagnon (20:54), Adam Charron (21:03), Brendan MacInnis (21:13), and Anthony Cestrone (21:36). Boys’ Soccer The Broncos lost another heartbreaker against Salem on Tuesday, October 5, by the score of 1-0. It seemed that the Broncos controlled the ball for most of the game, but they just could not find the back of the net. Both the Broncos and Salem had 14 shots on net, with Salem finding paydirt only once at the 11:49 mark of the first half. Jimmy Tomaswick made nine saves and the Broncos managed eight shots on goal, including a laser by KC Amadi that hit the post. Playing well for the Broncos were Phil Croce, James Dalrymple, and Matt Fellows. Alvirne’s record is 2-7-1 overall and

School’s boys’ and girls’ soccer teams attended the New England Revolution’s 15th annual High School Night at Gillette Stadium. Students from nearly 100 schools attended the game and filled close to 4,000 seats in the stands. For the first time, students were
invited to attend a pre-game party on the west concourse of the stadium, which included an Xbox 360 FIFA10 tournament, a Rock Band competition, inflatable games, and a DJ. Concluding the night’s activities,
600 lucky high-school students were invited down onto the field to take a post-game shot on goal. Those who hit the crossbar won two tickets in the Fidelity Investments Clubhouse for the Revolution’s next home match on Saturday, October 16.
they will host Nashua North on October 14. The junior varsity squad won 3-1. Girls’ Soccer The Lady Broncos took on the 8-1 Salem Blue Devils at Salem and
came away with a heartbreaking 2-1 loss with less than 10 seconds remaining in double overtime. Senior goalkeeper Katelyn Fortier made 12 saves. With barely five minutes off the clock, Taylor Troy hit a corner kick and Tori LaRoche kicked home the bouncing soccer ball, giving Alvirne a 1-0 lead, which held up until the end of the first half when Salem tied the score. Alvirne held tough and brought the game into a double overtime, but a chip shot from just outside the 18-yard line found the back of the net. The Lady Broncos have a record of 3-5-2 and will host Manchester Central on Friday, October 8, and Londonderry on October 12. The junior varsity team won 4-1. Volleyball The Alvirne Volleyball Program will be sponsoring a Dig Pink Night on Friday, October 8, during their match against Hollis- Brookline. There will also be a raffle for prizes in which all proceeds will be donated to the Breast Cancer Foundation. Donations will also be accepted at the door. The Broncos moved to 10-2 on the season with a 3-0 victory over Exeter last Friday, October 1, and a 3-0 decision over Winnacunnet. Katie Donovan had nine service points, two aces, seven kills, one block, and eight digs, followed by DJ Purcell with 15 points, four aces, 11 kills, three blocks, and 12 digs, and Cassie Larocque with five points, two aces, 11 kills, and seven digs. The Broncos’ final three home matches will be on October 8 against Hollis-Brookline, October 13 against Pinkerton, and October 20 against Spaulding.
