n Merrill Lynch Wealth Management (MLWM) has appointed Nick Booth as Business Development Director within Merrill Lynch Portfolio Managers (MLPM). Nick, who will be based in Jersey, was previously with Newscape Capital Group. His new role will focus on high- and ultra-high-net-worth clients, and trust companies in the Channel Islands, working closely with the Wealth Structuring and Advisory teams to provide the best solutions. n KPMG in the Channel Islands has appointed Rob Kirkby, formerly the Technical Director of Jersey Finance, as their new Head of Advisory Services for Jersey. Rob will be working closely with Ashley Paxton, Head of Advisory Services for the Channel Islands, who is based in Guernsey. Rob’s appointment is part

of a continuing investment and commitment by KPMG to build and grow its advisory presence in the Channel Islands. Rob will be working with Ashley in continuing to grow the Jersey practice, particularly in: n Transaction services: assisting businesses with strategic merger and acquisition decisions and executing them smoothly in an effort to extract maximum value n Regulation: working with businesses to address local and international regulatory matters, particularly using rapid and complex regulatory change to help achieve growing success. n Restructuring: working with businesses to help maximise value and address ever-changing needs. These services will be supported

by Rob’s experience at Jersey Finance with regulatory matters and his detailed understanding of new sources of business, as well as his prior experience as a Chartered Accountant in professional services in tax and mergers and acquisitions.

n Ashley Hillier has been promoted to the role of Chief Operating Officer for Standard Bank Offshore Group. Formerly Director of Infrastructure at Standard Bank in Jersey, in his new role Ashley will be responsible for the Group’s IT, operations, projects, facilities and administration in Jersey, Isle of Man and Mauritius. The Group Chief Executive of

Standard Bank Offshore, Ian Gibson, said: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Ashley to the role of Chief Operating Officer for the Offshore Group. His leadership capabilities and experience will be invaluable to our team of wealth management professionals as they manage the increased new business we are receiving from around the world, in particular from the core emerging markets, including eastern Europe and Africa.” Prior to joining Standard Bank in

2005, Ashley had been consulting with a number of financial institutions in Jersey and had previously been a Vice President at JP Morgan in Geneva and a Director at UBS Jersey. The Standard Bank Offshore Group

has offices in Jersey, the Isle of Man and Mauritius, and provides a range of services for private and corporate clients, including wealth management, banking, asset management, trust and company administration, investment services and fund administration.
