How did you get where you are? I started my career in the mid-Eighties on the floor of the old London Stock

Exchange. After a stint on the dealing desk in the early Nineties, I jumped at the chance of moving into sales, and joined what was Bloomberg Financial Markets. This was the perfect place to develop my understanding of sales and business development as I ran sales regions. I then went on to work for IBM Global Services as a Consultant Sales Manager, bringing teams together to help global wealth management firms and some of the world’s leading investment banks leverage new strategies and technology. In 2004, I joined BNP Paribas and helped build a team in London that went from strength to strength winning market share and developing new innovations. After the bank acquired the securities business from RBSI in 2007, I could see the opportunity post-migration to develop and grow our business here in the next three to five years and leapt at the chance.

What is your favourite quote? It’s from Muhammad Ali: “Champions aren’t made in gyms. Champions are

made from something they have deep inside them: a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill.” I’ve always believed that effort, hard work and the will to not just accept things as they are – to have a vision – is the foundation that leads to achievement and the inspiration of great teams.

to visit and fell for its charm. Since moving to Jersey last August we’ve been wowed by what the island has to offer and how welcoming everyone has been. From an industry perspective I’ve been impressed by the sense of community here that is the foundation of the local finance and finance-related industry. This has made Jersey a financial service centre of choice.
