Risen Savior sale, March for Cure coming
Perfect Place offers adult day service
SanTan Sun area shoppers looking for a few good bargains should put Risen Savior Lutheran Church’s upcoming rummage sale, held 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 15 and 16, on their schedules.
For those looking to clean out their closets, unwanted items in good condition can be dropped off at the church Oct. 12 through 14.

Risen Savior also hosts March for The Cure, a 3.5-mile Family Fun Walk & Run at 8 a.m. Sat., Nov. 6, with all proceeds benefi ting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Preregistration is $20 per adult participant, $15 for students and seniors. The fi rst 100 to register online receive free T-shirts. Lunch, entertainment, games and prizes are provided to all participants.
Those who wish to come but not participate in the walk or run can join the festivities at 10:30 a.m. for $7, which includes lunch and all other activities. For more information about March for The Cure or to register for the run, visit

Perfect Place
The Perfect Place, located at Risen Savior Lutheran Church, offers an adult day service where families can bring their loved ones to socialize with others from 1 to 4 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The fee-based, nonprofi t program offers an afternoon of social interaction for adults who need a little help in a safe, secure environment, while providing respite to their caregivers. Guests play games and socialize with the assistance of volunteers, who treat each individual with dignity, compassion and respect. A variety of entertainment is offered by community members on special days, and each participant’s birthday is celebrated to make his or her day special. The program serves all of Southern Chandler, Sun Lakes and the surrounding communities.

St. Steven’s offers Rosary Sunday transportation
Bus transportation to the 35th annual Rosary Sunday Celebration, taking place 2 to 4:15 p.m. Sun., Oct. 10 at the Phoenix Convention Center in downtown Phoenix, is provided by St. Steven’s Church of Sun Lakes.
Bus tickets are $5 and on sale before and after all weekend masses through Sun., Oct. 3.
Bishop Thomas Olsted will preside over the event, which also features keynote speaker Fr. James Kubick, S.J. and Bishop Eduardo Nevares. Brophy College Preparatory Men’s Choir provides the music.
Rosary Sunday presents the opportunity for Valley Catholics to come together as a Diocesan family to pray before the Eucharistic Lord. Admission is free. St. Steven’s Church is located at 24827 S. Dobson Rd. in Sun Lakes. For more information, call the St. Steven’s Church offi ce at 480-895-9266.
SL Lutheran Church takes part in fall events
Sun Lakes Lutheran Church will host or help participate in a variety of events this autumn, beginning with a congregational potluck at 5 p.m. Sat., Oct. 9 at the Chapel Center next to Sun Lakes Chapel.
Sun Lakes Lutherans welcome all those who want to become members at its 8 a.m. service on Sun., Oct. 24.
In addition, church members will join with partner organizations of the Sun Lakes Interfaith Council in sponsoring the Cap and Collar Concert at 7 p.m. Tue., Oct. 26 in the Chapel. The evening features music, stories, humor and faith for no admission charge. A free-will offering will be taken to help Neighbors Who Care. Treasures Sale for the Chapel Center is held Nov. 19 and 20, as all those who use Sun Lakes Chapel support the vital work for the community that it provides.
