An “Exploration Adventure Camp” for kids in kindergarten through eighth grade is offered Mon., Oct. 4 through Tue., Oct. 19 at Barness Family Jewish Community Center in Chandler.


Camp hours are 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with early- and late-stay care available from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.


Camp activities will include cooking, sports, scheduled games, arts and crafts, along with several fi eldtrips to Valley locations such as Skateland, the Phoenix Zoo, ASU and more.

Kids eat free with the purchase of an adult meal Monday evenings through Oct. 4 at the Chipotle Mexican Grill in Southern Chandler. The buy one, get one free special means when parents purchase a burrito, bowl, order of tacos or salad after 4 p.m., they get a kids’ meal for free. Chipotle Mexican Grill is located at 2895 S. Chandler Symphony holds student piano competition


Area piano students currently enrolled in grades seven through 12 grades are invited to compete in a Youth Soloist Competition hosted by the Chandler Symphony Orchestra. The fi rst-place winner will perform with the Chandler Symphony on its Sun., March 27, 2011 concert at Chandler Center for the Arts. The winning soloist will also receive a $400 honorarium and publicity for the event. Second- and third- place cash awards will also be given.


Applications are due by Dec. 15 and require a $25 nonrefundable application fee. Auditions will be held Sat., Jan. 15, 2011 at AZ Piano, located at 4134 E. Wood St., Suite 200 in Phoenix.

SanTan Sun families can support a worthy cause when they have breakfast for dinner at the 2nd Annual PJs and Eggs event from 5 p.m. to close on Fri., Oct. 8 at Gilbert’s Liberty Market.


Diners are encouraged to wear pajamas that night, and are asked to bring a pair of new pajamas to donate to Arizona’s Children Association’s statewide foster care programs. A portion of all proceeds from the evening is also donated to the program for the purchase of basic supplies to fulfi ll the needs of foster children in Arizona.


In addition, customers receive a certifi cate valid for a free dozen eggs, courtesy of Hickman’s Eggs, and redeemable at any grocery store where Hickman’s Eggs are sold. Customers who donate pajamas at any time leading up to the event are given certifi cates for free eggs, too. A drawing for gift certifi cates to Valley restaurants will also be held.


Hickman’s Family Farms, Arizona’s only commercial egg producer, hosts the event in celebration of World Egg Day.
