by Doug Robinson The Hudson
Young Nicholas, Zach’s younger brother, receives instruction regarding taser safety from Hudson Police Officer Tomas Scotti
Community Center was filled to capacity last Saturday night, as close to 400 friends, neighbors, Bears, and supporters came together to “laugh” together during a night of comedy, sponsored by friends of Zach. Publicized as “Laugh for Zach” night, those in attendance were treated to not only a night full of comedy, but they were also treated to the opportunity to share in a meal of pasta, cake, and their beverage of choice. The walls of the Community Center were lined with donated gifts, which had been presented in
the manner of a “silent auction.” Professional sports autographed memorabilia, gift baskets, and donations from local restaurants and businesses filled the tables. Over a hundred donations were raffled off in support of Zach. All proceeds raised from the event will be used for the

“Our non-profit organization is dedicated to establish a Stadium in Zachary’s name,” writes the Tompkins family. “We sincerely thank everyone for all your love and support.” Upcoming events include a yard sale at Nottingham West
School, Oktoberfest at Countrybrook Farms, “Dance-Night Life Nashua” (for any incoming students to sixth to eighth grade), and a Women’s Softball Tournament. Those wishing to participate and become more involved are invited to visit

Benson Park to Build Bridges to Everywhere – Almost
by Doug Robinson The Hudson Board of Selectmen recently approved the “installation of five pedestrian bridges within the Benson Park as recommended by the Benson Park Committee and the Hudson Planning Board.” One of the five bridges will be completed as an Eagle Scout Project, while the remaining four bridges will be completed by the Benson Park Trails Committee. “These crossings are needed to prevent people from trampling over wetland
vegetation, as well as get around the muddy areas,” commented Dick Empey, Chairman of the Trails Committee. The bridges proposed will vary in length from 12 to 234 feet, and will vary in width from 32 to 42 inches. All bridges will be constructed from pressure-treated lumber. Selectmen’s Chairman Ken Massey stated that the bridges “are going to be an asset to the trail system” at Benson Park.
