Explore Skiing, Rock Climbing with OAP


C


alling all skiers! Don’t miss an orien- tation meeting at MAC Wednesday,


Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. Members have the opportunity to meet


the coaches and find out about MAC ski programs. MAC’s skilled coaching staff is dedicated to helping skiers at all levels improve their techniques and achieve their goals. The MAC race program trains primarily at Mt. Hood Meadows, which provides gate training. MAC ski coaches artfully balance skill development with making the sport fun and enjoyable for racers at all levels. MAC Holiday Ski Camp (ages 6 and


older): offered during the winter holiday break. This program is perfect for nearly any skier that wants to learn about ski racing. It gives participants a taste of ski fundamentals with a race on the final day.


MAC high school extension camp (open to non-members): Supports and supplements high school race programs. Freeride Program: come learn tricks in


the half-pipes from expert coaches in this new MAC program.


Development Program (ages 8-13): For


youngsters who want to improve their all- mountain skiing skills but not compete with a competitive program.


Annual Rocktoberfest Celebrate everything rock climbing at the


second annual Rocktoberfest Thursday, Oct. 21 from 6-8 p.m. in the MAC Rock Gym. Rocktoberfest is the perfect time for those who have never climbed at the rock wall before to see what climbing culture is about. Belayers are available throughout Rocktoberfest for anyone who would like to climb. The evening includes a crazy climbing costume competition, and members can check out the latest and greatest gear in the climbing world from onsite vendors. Rocktoberfest also includes the MAC rock


climbing team’s annual fundraiser. Members have the chance to win climbing gear.

MAC Learn to Race (ages 6 and


older): This abbreviated Mini Mite program is designed to introduce young skiers to ski racing without the season-long commitment. Mini Mites (ages 5-8): This program is


ideal for introducing skiers to ski racing and consists mainly of directed free skiing and some gate training.


Mitey Mites (ages 9-13): This program


is designed for more experienced young skiers who are interested in developing their racing and all mountain skiing skills.


Junior Race Program (ages 13-18):


MAC offers a competitive junior program for advanced racers.


Ski Committee team up to present Matchstick Production’s latest film, The Way I See It, Thursday, Nov. 18 in the Main Ballroom. Matchstick, a leader in action sports film- making, brings the best athletes in the world to exotic and remote locations to capture astounding footage. This fun family-friendly event is open to


members and their guests. Tickets are $15 purchased in advance. Mt. Hood Meadows season passes are available when the doors open at 5:30 p.m. Participants enjoy a casual dinner at 6 p.m. and have an opportunity to see cutting-edge equipment displays.
