Class Notes We Remember
CarolMorgan England ’79M.Ed., ’83 Ed.S. died Friday,March 19, 2010, after a three-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Shewas 63. Carol had been a counselor in the student counseling center since August 20, 2001. She received her B.S. in history fromPortland StateCollege. Shewas a licensed professional counselor and amarriage and family therapist. An inspirational role model of courage and resilience, shemanaged to come to work every day after her cancer diagnosis unless she was traveling for treatment. Even the doctors responsible for her carewere astonished at her strength and perseverancewhile battling the disease. Carol’s gentle spirit, compassionate heart, and courageous outlook are sorelymissed.
RebeccaDavisWeeks died June 12, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 71. Beckywas administrative assistant in the registrar’s office for twenty-four years, before retiring in 2001.Married toDaveWeeks for fifty-two years, she was active in the Lynchburg PoliceWives’ Group and the Charity Sunday School Class at West Lynchburg Baptist Church,where shewas a longtime member. She was a graduate of Longwood College. She had three daughters: KarenW. Canfield ’91, DebraW.Werthman, and KarlaW.Gibson, and five grandchildren.
