Vase for ‘Haute Harrods’
During September and October, UK exclusive store Harrods will be showcasing uniquely create Herend vases, created exclusively for the retailers ‘Haute Harrods’ collection. This exquisite vase with stunning hand painted butterfl ies has been created exclusively in a limited edition of only 10 pieces and has a retail price of £1,200. The ‘Haute Harrods’ collection is a two-month promotion, celebrating the creativity and sprit of Haute Coture. Herend will sit alongside a number of other prestigious and luxury brands in creating items for the exclusive collection.
Libbey wins coca cola award
Dartington Crystal partners with Royal Salute
Devon based Dartington Crystal has teamed up with the world’s leading luxury Scotch whisky brand, Royal Salute, to produce stunning, hand-crafted decanters for the brand’s most prestigious blend – Royal Salute 62 Gun Salute. Working exclusively with Royal Salute, Dartington Crystal - the last surviving volume glass makers in the UK - makes each exquisite decanter by hand at its workshops in Torrington. Using the fi nest midnight blue crystal, each piece is decorated with 18-carat gold and crowned with a cut crystal stopper. Neil Hughes, managing director for Dartington Crystal commented, ‘’It is a pleasure to be working with Royal Salute whose name is as synonymous with craftsmanship and quality as our own. To fulfi l the exacting and superior requirements of such a prestigious brand is testament to the unique handcrafting skills we have ourselves nurtured and developed for more than 40 years. “It has been some time since a British crystal company has worked with such an internationally renowned brand, so I feel proud we have been able to keep the operation entirely UK based, especially given that the product is aimed primarily at the Asian market.”
Royal Salute 62 Gun Salute will retail for the duty free price of US$2,200.
Libbey Glass is very proud to announce that they have been named one of only two Coca-Cola Licensees of the Year for 2009. The award was presented at the annual Coca-Cola Licensing summit held in Atlanta, Ga. Kate Dwyer, Coca-Cola’s group director for worldwide licensing, recognised Libbey for meeting and exceeding in seven key criteria, including sales performance, new product development, creative marketing, and social compliance. Greg Pax, consumer marketing manager, accepted the award on behalf of Libbey. “We are very proud and humbled to receive this award from among all of the great licensees Coke has worldwide” said Pax. “Both Coca-Cola and Libbey have been manufacturing for over 100 years. We are proud to be a valued partner with Coca-Cola.” Libbey was selected from over 150 licensees worldwide and was a repeat winner, also selected in 2007.
Zieher design award winners
Zieher have announced winners for its second design award competition. The competition invited students from a local university to submit designs under the theme ‘Innovation, Combination and Emotion- new stages for dishes’. Winners from the previously held competition in 2007 have had their designs materialised by Zieher and now make part of the company’s fi nal product offering. The main focus of the topic was the development of new tabletop products for the world’s best hotels and restaurants. The topic was consciously formulated in a very open way and the participants had almost no restrictions to face in their creative process which facilitated immense freedom for outstanding ideas. Entries were judged on design, innovation and the practical use of the products. Pictured is the winning design ‘Bamboo’ by Rui Li.
