ueen Street’s cocktail den, Bramble, has been delighting its loyal patrons with delicious
concoctions for over six years now. And for 18 months, its sister bar and restaurant The Saint has been doing much the same in Stockbridge.
Opening on St Stephen Street, a street bursting at the seams with eateries and bars may seem like a foolhardy venture but owners Jason Scott and Mike Aikman needn’t worry. The laidback atmosphere and funky furniture that have made Bramble so popular set The Saint apart from the traditional pubs and wine bars of this Village.
Friendly and attentive staff are a must-have for any neighbourhood bar, and that’s exactly what you’ll find at The Saint. It also helps that they’re knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their
extensive drinks menu. Sampled from the specials board were the Pimms Cup – with mint and cucumber aplenty – and an Americano; a heady mix of Campari, sweet vermouth and soda, it’s one of James Bond’s favourite cocktails, and if it’s good enough for 007... Another classic cocktail, the Dark ‘n’ Stormy, was expertly mixed as was the Horse’s Neck. The twist of lemon zest draped on the glass wasn’t forgotten about either.
If cocktails and spirits don’t float your boat then the comprehensive wine list ought to do it. A choice of 10 reds, 10 whites, two roses and eight sparkling wines will tempt even the fussiest of wine connoisseurs. Check out the Bin Ends board for a choice of three reds, three whites and a guest wine – usually something a little unusual that changes on a regular basis.
