CTAM EuroSummit: the preview
This year’s CTAM EuroSummit in Budapest features a host of useful sessions for cable marketers, including a headline interview of Liberty Global boss Mike Fries by CNN correspondent Richard Quest.
Cable marketing association CTAM Europe’s annual
EuroSummit takes place at the Marriott Hotel in Budapest, Hungary from September 23-24 this year. Headlining the event, CNN presenter Richard Quest will interview Liberty Global president and CEO Mike Fries. Quest, firmly established as an expert on business travel issues, currently works as a CNN presenter and correspondent and last year took the lead presenting the hour-long programme Quest Means Business. He also presents CNN Business Traveller. According to CTAM Europe, current regis- trations for the event have already exceeded last year’s attendance. With 278 attendees reg- istered as Digital TV Europe went to press, the organizers expect that over 300 attendees will be in Budapest. Executives from companies including UPC, Virgin Media, Euronews, HBO Central Europe, AETN International, BBC Global News, Chellomedia, CNBC, Comhem, Cox Communication, ABC/ Disney/ESPN, NBC Universal, MGM, Turner, Telenet, Cablecom, Unitymedia and Ono will be among those present. CTAM Europe has organised a Customer Experience Consortium meeting ahead of the summit on September 22, from 12.00-17.00, a series of workgroup sessions targeted at individuals working in customer care and experience. The event will include Best in Class sessions featuring insights from Virgin Media, often considered to be best in class in the cable sector in this field, and Mulberry Consulting. Discussion areas will include “first 90 days” customer experience pro- grammes, the position of customer experi- ence within the organisation and how to use the customer care environment as a vehicle for cross selling. summit networking reception hosted by Tata Communications.
The main conference kicks off with a wel- come address from CTAM Europe chairman Chris Winkelmolen, who is also UPC’s direc- tor of marketing, broadband, and a keynote from Joshua Danovitz, general manager and vice-president of international at TiVo. This will be followed by concurrent sessions focus- ing on digital TV (TV retakes the centre stage) and findings from a year spent filming top communications, marketing, branding and advertising executives (Examined Creativity 2010) presented by creative coach Carmen Alzner. The post morning coffee-break ses- sions feature a choice between panels on 3D TV and the top 10 rules for improving cus- tomer satisfaction. The afternoon of the first day features the
CTAM Europe general assembly followed by concurrent sessions on social media (Transcending Classmates, Farmville and stupid pet videos!) and the connected home (Connected Home Services & VAS Strategies for Cable), followed by a choice of sessions on advertising (Unleashing the Power of
Competitive Advertising) and business services (New SoHo Market Opportunities for Cable). The first day will round off with the Marketing Leadership Forum, featuring AETN International’s Dean Possenniskie, Revensbeck’s David Hulbert, UPC Hungary chief marketing and content officer Judit Grósz, Turner Broadcasting’s marketing and PR director, CEE, Malgosia Chapman and Ziggo’s director of brand and marketing com- munications Nico Rijkhoff. This will be fol- lowed by the CTAM Europe Creative Awards ceremony and kick-off party on the Danube on board the Boat Europa. Friday September 24 will kick off with Mike
Fries’ keynote session, followed by the CEO Forum featuring SPT Networks CE’s Eddie Nelson, Cablecom’s Eric Tveter, Welho’s Johan Flykt, Chello Central Europe’s Levente Málnay and Com Hem’s Tomas Franzen. After the coffee break, delegates will be offered a choice between sessions on TV Everywhere – a Secure Model for Cable? and Measuring the Customer Experience, followed by the final day networking lunch and closing remarks. ●
