WHAT DO THEY DO? THE Elite 1000 GreenPower UHF Transmitter features 50 V LDMOS technology and boasts an output power of up to 9.6 kW DVB per unit with an energy consumption savings of up to 15% over the previous Elite transmitter series. The DVB-T2 Exciter is for ana- logue broadcasters switching directly to DVB-T2, or for digital providers wanting to upgrade to DVB-T2 for greater bandwidth
efficiency. The DRM+ Band III Broadcasting System is a solution for DRM radio transmission in Band III, including a programme content management system, the DRM+ modulator, and an RF amplifier for the chosen frequen- cy band. The DRM content server with Diveemo data service is an integrated, all-in-one content server and transmission control system for DRM radio transmis- sion, complete with the Diveemo application for managing the transmission of extra non-audio content (images, text, maps, small-scale video, and advertis- ing). Thomson Grass Valley’s headend unit will show the ViBE EM3000 HD encoder, which now features advanced 3D functionali- ties and also boasts an additional general compression perform- ance gain of 15%. The ViBE EM2000 quad encoder offers simultaneous MPEG-2/4 SD encoding on four channels. The ViBE EM1000/EM2000 encoders now support MPEG-2/4 com- pressed input, providing the abili- ty to re-encode signals received on ASI or IP. Built-in DVB subtitle transcoding capabilities are also now offered in the ViBE
EM1000/EM2000 encoders. This new DVB subtitle software license, based on Cavena technol- ogy, simplifies the management of DVB subtitles redundancy and saves space by avoiding external subtitling equipment. The NetProcessor 9030/40 multiplex- er is a new DVB-T2-ready device that includes a wide range of interfaces, full CAS support, embedded SFN or DVB-T2 gate- way, and built-in programme insertion capability, according to Grass Valley.

EchoStar Europe highlights SlingLoaded STAND 4.B54
Alongside a comprehensive range of set-top boxes and digi- tal video recorders, EchoStar Europe says it will use IBC to highlight how ‘TV Anywhere’ technologies, such as its fully integrated SlingLoaded solu- tions, will deliver increased con- venience to consumers, ensur- ing that operators benefit from
reducing churn, gain opportuni- ties to enhance revenues and ensure that their services sup- port the latest trends in media consumption. One highlight will be EchoStar Europe’s
SlingLoaded HDS-600 platform that enables digital TV opera- tors to provide consumers with a TV Anywhere experience,
allowing services to be extend- ed securely inside and outside the home to Macs, PCs and mobile devices including iPhone, iPad and Android-based smart phones. EchoStar Europe will also be exploring the possibili- ties of in-home connectivity through the introduction of DLNA solutions. The company will also showcase its HDC-600 EuroDOCSIS platform for cable operators and SlingLoaded HDX-600 platform for IPTV operators.

WHAT DO THEY DO? Furnace 5.6 is a solution for end- to-end HD H.264 video-over-IP distribution. The upgrade includes a redesigned and easy-to-use interface as well as an integrated conditional access module. The new conditional access portal offers users a built-in authentica- tion portal for a direct interface with customer LDAP/Active Directory database; the ability for customers to brand their CA por- tal; the ability to assign rights and privileges for live streams, play- back channels, and VOD assets; as well as VF administrative tools such as recording, client control, etc. The integrated solution con- tinues to support the compact Makito HD H.264 encoder to man- age and distribute live video to computers and set-top boxes, to create scheduled playback chan- nels for enterprise TV and sig- nage, and to record content and deliver video-on-demand. The Furnace Portal Server controls the direct and secure distribution of SD and HD H.264 video to both the InStream player and the Stingray set-top box. Furnace 5.6 offers network video recording (NVR) functionalities. The new Makit decoder is an H.264 decoder that offers less than 70 milliseconds of latency at video resolutions of up to 1080p60. The product is targeted at medical and military applications seeking a professional-grade, low-latency, high-performance video decoding solution. The MB6 high-density six-slot chassis holds up to six Makito or Barracuda encoders in just a single 1 7/8-inch rack unit. Haivision will also demonstrate its Makito HD video encoder, which now supports both component analogue and DVI inputs. The Makito delivers low-latency, full- frame-rate H.264 encoding of HD video up to 1080p60, or comput- er graphics resolutions.
