STRIKING SCULPTURE

standing of both science and optics, Wilkinson is one of the few artists creat- ing figurative acrylic sculptures today. Michael Wilkinson’s newest works, “Rainfall” and “Future Frag-

ment,” continue to use light to impart beauty and suggest themes which are open to viewers’ interpretation. At first glance, “Future Fragment” appears to simply de-

pict one woman with an ethereal and graceful air about her. However, as the sculpture is rotated, viewers are alerted to three other figures surrounding her, who seem to communicate with her wordlessly, demon- strating Wilkinson’s knack for creating a different story for every angle. Alternatively, “Rainfall” de- picts a woman with a serene expression enjoy- ing raindrops as they fall upon her face. This work reflects Wilkinson’s new technique which, through the use of numerous pol- ished lines, creates the impression of falling rain. Says Wilkinson, “Infused with light,

[acrylic] portrays the physical and spiritual beauty of men and women and the moments that make life worth living.” Wilkinson’s acrylic works are

currently on display at Exclusive Collections Galleries in San Diego—please call locations to find out more about spe- cific pieces available.
