“Thumbs up to Dr. Mohr. Your intent may have been to save $100 in gas costs for the 4 away games for the PHS football team by moving the team from Division 5 to Division 3 but in reality you’ll end up saving thousands as you destroy the football program altogether. What a wonderful job you and lame duck AD Tim Powers did in saving taxpayers a few bucks. You must go to the Linda Mahoney school of Pelham Pride. I’d like to see you and Powers wearing placards at the Portsmouth, Alvirne, and Souhegan games saying ‘I thought Pelham could compete in Division 3 football.’”

“Thumbs down Pelham PERC (Pelham Excessive

Recycling Charge). We pay taxes to have our trash disposed of, now the dump manager is going to charge us again when we dump certain items that use to be free. He is going to charge in 50 lb. increments instead of by the pound. Up to 500 lbs is .05 cents a pound and 501 lbs and over is .07/lb. This looks like the dump manager is running the dump as a for profit operation. The good part is we can cut his budget for next year and lower our taxes.”

“Thumbs up to the Pelham Selectman, Finally are they accepting applications for a Town Manager? This is overdue. Why was the wait so, so long?”

“Thumbs up to the Nancy Grace Show. I

saw a segment on the show which affected me powerfully, and I hope it does the same for you. It talked about less fortunate children and hunger. They talked about kids eating well Monday thru Friday because they eat at school. What happens on the weekends? Do these kids go hungry? I’m sure some do. If you have any involvement at our schools please check out this site, www. blessingsinabackpack.org. I think the organization provides the backpacks and our kids bring the food items. I don’t know the frequency of the collections Our kids can will feel good about helping other kids. We have to help the people in our country first for a change. No child should have to go hungry. Please help.”

Goodwill for a few years. This year, my children were added to the ‘school house’ and the generosity was overwhelming! It was the first time in a long time that they have had anything new. Thank you so much!”

“Thumbs up to the teachers at

Windham Center School. They have started the new school year with positive, hopeful thoughts that finally this will be a really great year for their students under new leadership. It has

been very hard for them to see those who are no longer associated with the school come out with half-truths and mistruths and not be able to respond because of the school’s code of ethics. The counselor is being smeared by supporters of these former employees and, in truth, is the only victim. Shame on those participating in these rumors/smears.”

“Thumbs up to Deb, Rob and Andy. All the ‘thumbs downs’ every week tell the rest of us that the anti-education people are more scared that you will continue to promote quality education and working towards proper solutions. Keep it up! The majority supported the ballot, it just wasn’t the super majority. Ethics, Integrity, Planning!”

they even get into high school. Coaching for the right reasons consist of developing the kids physically, improving their self- confidence, and knowing how to work as a team. P.S., why don’t you educate yourself on how youth teams sports should be? 34-0, ‘give me first defense’ yeah right! For those of you who want to see your child play football, don’t stick around Pelham! You can earn your position and playing time by being part of the team. Our son was one of the chosen few but we opted to play elsewhere and learn about team play in football.”

“Thumbs down to Obama.

“Thumbs down! To the ignorant bicyclists that flaunt RSA’s & want to be treated fairly, as if they were driving a motor vehicle, yet ignore half of the road rules, such as STOPPING AT STOP SIGNS! Get on the bike path! It ain’t that busy as to slow you down from your 10 mph.”

“Thumbs down- to the bicycle-road hog that states RSA 265:23-11 having something to do with bicycle travel... in reality, that statute deals with one-way roads and rotary’s. Don’t speak, what you don’t know. Ride your little bicycle on the purpose-built BI-CY-CLE path. Money was spent on it, so USE IT!”

who refuse to accept the fact that their children are gay, especially when they are amazing people with a lot of potential. You do not deserve the gift of being a parent if this is how you act. Therapy doesn’t change sexuality, so save your money, give up on therapy, and let your child be happy the way they are!!!”

“Thumbs down from a family who experienced a few years ago what the 5th

grade razorback coaches are doing now... nothing has changed! Has anyone seen the PHS football roster? Only the chosen few continue to play. Well, I can assure you that they will get plenty of defense time now. Thanks to coaches like them, our feeder program gets shredded before

Have you had a reorder on a prescription drug yet? Well, I have and to my surprise, the cost has more than doubled! Where are the savings and lower costs Obama so forcefully said would occur with his Healthcare Reform Bill which was passed if you recall through back room deals and against 86% of Americans? Some say things will change once it kicks in. Just the other day, however, the nonpartisan economic commission reported on Medicare and stated that the WH numbers were NOT correct, that, in actuality, the nation’s healthcare tab will go UP through 2019! Did Obama willfully mislead the public to get this through? And did Pelosi who said that 100,000 jobs would be created immediately with the passage of this bill also mislead the nation? I’m glad to see that many are now reading between the lines of the Liberal pabulum.”

“Thumbs up.

Congratulations to Windham High School for throwing an awesome homecoming celebration last weekend! It was great seeing so many townspeople turn out for this fun and spirited event in support of our school and athletes. We have so much to be proud of and I appreciate the efforts of the boosters and administration for organizing this great new tradition!”

“Thumbs up...to both Windham and Pelham for looking at all possible school solutions. Time to roll up our sleeves and explore options that will benefit both towns to help the kids and taxpayers. Let’s face it, both towns have many warts, need help with fixing school spacing issues, don’t want to be out taxed as homeowners and want to be able to provide a good education for our kids. There is a lot in common between these two towns. Let’s do the right thing and do what is best for the kids!”

“Thumbs up to Pelham and Windham for putting together a committee of citizens and experts to explore options on how we can work together to solve our school issues so both towns can benefit-what a great lesson we are teaching our kids about helping others in communities out.”

“Thumbs up to the Pelham High School

cheerleaders being on the Channel 9 news Friday night introducing Friday Night football! You girls rocked!”

“Thumbs down to the folks of Pelham, and

travelers racing through Pelham, that don’t believe that the ‘yellow flashing 20 mph lights’ are for them on Marsh Road. You are in a school zone!

Windham School District Facilities Master Planning Committee Update

The Windham School District has established a Facilities Master Planning Committee to evaluate current facilities and needs, and make recommendations for short- and long-term solutions. The committee began meeting in August and includes administrators, citizens, School Board members, and the Lavallee/Brensinger architectural firm.

In order to ensure an accurate assessment of the current District facilities, the Committee has implemented a strategic approach that began with establishing overall education criteria for the Windham School District. The criteria will be used to evaluate existing facilities on a site-by-site basis. The information gathered will be used, along with student population projections, to identify specific facility needs in order of priority. The architectural firm, Lavallee/Brensinger, will then present plans and cost estimates for the committee to further assess and present to the School Board. The Facilities Master Planning Committee is charged with the task of helping the School Board and District establish a facilities plan that will serve the district for the next five, 10, and 20 years. All options and scenarios are being considered, including renovating existing buildings, utilizing state building aid that is available for

Like it or not, you are required by law to slow down to 20 mph. It doesn’t matter whether school has actually started or not. When the flashing lights come on, you are required to abide by the law. Come on people! I have an idea. The police should hide in the bushes, driveways, etc. and snag a few speeders each morning and afternoon. All that speeding ticket money collected could be put into a ‘new high school fund.’ We’d have a new school before you know it.”
