With response to the Thumbs
down from last week about the secretary at the Lancaster School, to the parents who know me, you know this is probably the most hurtful thing that I could have ever read about myself. To our new parents, you should know, I come to work each day loving my job; I take care of your children like they are my children. Your concerns/worries are my concerns/worries. If I was told tomorrow I had to do this job without a paycheck, I would do it; that is how much I love my job. It’s unfortunate that one parent who had an issue could not have just come to me and spoken to me instead of anonymously making such a statement in the paper, hurting me, my husband, and my children. Would I like to know who wrote this? Absolutely, merely for the sake of trying to fix it. Would it change how I do my job or how I take care of your children? Not even for a minute.
“Thumbs down, a big ‘thumbs down’ to loosing the only quality meat market in the area! This is a huge disappointment. I feel now I have to travel to Andover or N. Andover just to get a nice cut of meat. Even though a place I visit quite often, McKinnons does not cut it for the picky beef eaters out there! We need a shop with ALL NATURAL MEATS!”
“Thumbs up to the Nancy Grace Show. I
saw a segment on the show which affected me powerfully, and I hope it does the same for you. It talked about less fortunate children and hunger. They talked about kids eating well Monday thru Friday because they eat at school. What happens on the weekends? Do these kids go hungry? I’m sure some do. If you have any involvement at our schools please check out this site
www.blessingsinabackpack.org. I think the organization provides the backpacks and our kids bring the food items. I don’t know the frequency of the collections Our kids can will feel good about helping other kids. We have to help the people in our country first for a change. No child should have to go hungry. Please help.”

therapy, and let your child be happy the way they are!!!”
“Thumbs down! Shame on you for calling out the secretary in such a public way for the one- sided version of a moment that seems to have set you off as if a crime had been committed. Why not handle your upset in an adult way by
from agricultural not state! You seem to have a very deep mental problem, is it your job? Illegals, I agree should not be getting anything but other people, if needed, it’s ok. Many people today getting food stamps have a home value anywhere from $225,000-$595,000! But no job! So they are eligible. They have children and need to feed them. What kind of person tells you the buy beer, cigars and cigarettes? It goes automatically by cashier and person pays $ for those items!”

“Thumbs up to the Lancaster Secretary! She is
a very pleasant person to deal with who is always willing to help out whenever she can. She always puts the kids first no matter what. The ‘thumbs down’ from last week was unnecessary, if you had a real problem with the school, address it face to face, not cowardly through ‘thumbs up/thumbs down!’”
“Thumbs down, WAY down to the person insulting Lancaster School’s secretary. Mrs. MacAskill has never been anything but sweet to me so I can only assume that if she was rolling her eyes it was because you were being rude or unreasonable. I don’t know if you are new to Lancaster but the parents here work together with the staff to make our school a great place for our kids to learn. I can’t imagine how busy that office must be especially during the new construction. You should be grateful your kids have such great role models and get over yourself. The staff has too many responsibilities regarding the safety and education of our children to worry about your opinions of their customer service.”
“Thumbs down! To the ignorant bicyclists that flaunt RSA’s & want to be treated fairly, as if they were driving a motor vehicle, yet ignore half of the road rules, such as STOPPING AT STOP SIGNS! Get on the bike path! It ain’t that busy as to slow you down from your 10 mph.”
“Thumbs down- to the bicycle-road hog that states RSA 265:23-11 having something to do with bicycle travel... in reality, that statute deals with one-way roads and rotary’s. Don’t speak, what you don’t know. Ride your little bicycle on the purpose-built BI-CY-CLE path. Money was spent on it, so USE IT!”
“Thumbs down to parents who refuse to accept the fact that their children are gay Especially when they are amazing people with a lot of potential. You do not deserve the gift of being a parent if this is how you act. Therapy doesn’t change sexuality, so save your money, give up on
Thomas Buja
bringing it directly to the person you have the beef with? You sucker punched her under the cloak of anonymity. My, aren’t you brave! Oh, and just in case nobody has told you yet, you are your children’s role model. It is true that children don’t miss much and they mimic the things they see. You could try being a little more understanding yourself and show your children how to help others who might need a helping hand. Rolling one’s eyes is something associated with silliness in the eyes of most children. It is an acceptable response to a situation that might be considered stressful. From the little that I know about the renovations that are going on at this school and having lived in my own home during major renovations, I can tell you this is a stressful time. Play nice!”
“Thumbs up to the secretary at Lancaster School. She is the definition of what a positive role model is to the students, staff, and administrators who have the pleasure to work with her everyday. She takes on
hundreds of questions and telephone calls daily and is always helpful and caring. Her devotion to the students, parents, and staff is sincere and her administrative skills help keep everyone and everything organized. Her personal attributes are second to none! With all the changes that are and will take place at the Lancaster School due to the pending construction, I and so many others feel incredibly fortunate and thankful that the secretary at Lancaster School is there to guide the students, parents, and staff on a daily basis. Simply put, she is an amazing person and a fine use of people’s tax dollars!”
“Thumbs up to the secretary at Lancaster
School! ‘Thumbs up’ for coming in early, staying late and coming in on weekends ‘Thumbs up’ for keeping track of the school calendar, duty calendar, principal’s calendar and gym calendar. ‘Thumbs up’ for copying, emailing, mailing, cleaning and organizing. ‘Thumbs up’ for being a friend, confidante and shoulder to lean to all of the staff. ‘Thumbs up’ for taking care of and loving each student like your own. ‘Thumbs up’ for being the true backbone of Lancaster School. Most important, ‘Thumbs up’ for doing it all with a smile. Lancaster School LOVES you!”
“Thumbs up to the secretary at Lancaster
School. She is one of the most generous and patient administrative assistants I have ever encountered. I have only ever seen her engage with staff, children and their parents in a polite and respectful manner. The Lancaster staff, students and their parents are lucky to have such a wonderful person helping to keep the everyday happenings of the school run smoothly.”
“Thumbs down to the person who wrote about food stamps. My daughter is a caseworker in Massachusetts and you CAN NOT get liquor, & cigars/cigarettes, not even t.p., paper towels, detergent, etc. So you don’t know what you are talking about You still pay taxes if it doesn’t go one place it will go to another. Food stamps are

“Thumbs down My husband and I read the article on how Susan Covey was ‘given’ the seat on the board of selectmen. It ‘never’ would have been the voter’s selection, believe us. Also, we are still driving around Salem (thought we’d let the public know) and still a lot going on, not just speeders! The North Salem speeders (still there) and now many illegal other things going on and no on e around The backs of ‘mini malls’ are quite the attraction at night, stolen cats at tonight (why don’t people call when they sell/hear a car speeding out on ‘rubber’ while stealing a car?) Also loud motorcycles day and night never stopped for noise/muffler? Why? Route 38 has quite a few and also Millville Street and Lake Street. If a ‘car’ had a muffler
broken, he’d be stopped, why not a noisy motorcycle? There was a complaint in the paper of Curb Parking, yes, every day and night and not just Market Basket Center, but Walmart, Shaws, McKinnons – all of these have cars/trucks at store entrances both days and evenings Why? This is a Fire Lane and it is illegal! The woman was right, where are the police? The next time you see it people, call the ‘Staties’, they’ll do something!”

my and all my neighbors’ yard signs last week. The person probably didn’t know that their actions constituted a level four misdemeanor punishable by fines and possible imprisonment. The funny part is that both Republican and Democrat signs were torn down, proving that the criminals didn’t even know anything about the candidates they were defrauding by their actions. “Thumbs down to the Salem Patriot for printing slanderous anonymous comments in the ‘thumbs’ column. The disclaimer at the top of the page does not forgive your lack of research of negative remarks aimed at someone who is doing a excellent job at Lancaster school. I will tell you, I am never reading your publication again because I can tell you do not research what goes in there.”
