Australian Education: a passport to a global career


A quality education, including functional English, is the passport to a global career. Increasingly, students from the Middle East are choosing Australia to improve their English skills and gain a recognised qualification that will prepare them for well- paid career and a secure future.


Why choose Australia?


There are more than 20,000 courses to choose in Australia – from cutting edge masters by research in nanotechnology to a practical diploma in graphic design and animation.


Australia is politically stable and rightly viewed as a safe and pleasant country to live in. It is culturally diverse and has a reputation for being welcoming of other nationalities. It has a high standard of living and academic institutions have strong international reputations. Islam is a religion that has respect from members of Australian society, demonstrated by the number of mosques and Islamic organisations in Australian cities. There are shops which stock halal meat and many grocery stores and restaurants which offer Arabic food.


IDP Education’s Research on Graduate Outcomes (IDP Education 2008: Outcomes and Impacts of International Education: From International Student to Australian Graduate, the Journey of a Lifetime) found that 88% of graduates would recommend studying in Australia and 73% say they would recommend working in Australia. Australian international graduates are great ambassadors for the country.


Of the students surveyed one third currently work in a multinational company and their career choices are highly influenced by perceived outcomes measured in terms of job, prestige, salary level and location.


What benefits do students get by studying in Australia?


Apart form the obvious benefits of a well-recognised qualification, Australia equips students with the confidence to be able to operate internationally in their future careers. Australia may become home for some students, who settle and thrive here, whereas others go on to create successful careers all around the world. Australia is traditionally a self-confident, dynamic society and some of this definitely rubs off on students whilst they are here. It also has to be said that many students are aware of Australia’s reputation as a place when young people make friends and this no doubt enables them to build life-long connections and networks, as well as boosting their self-confidence.
