- Notices, Letters, Opinions, Help Wanted, Etc. - Nobody Asked, Just My Opinion_______________________________________________________

Why is it that politicians and their people always seem to find it a necessity to call to do a survey or political poll just as you sit down to eat?

Ever notice that?

We have received several calls from the Paul Hodes campaign headquarters, and you know what, buy the time we got called the third time, I nicely told them why I wouldn’t be voting for him. Mainly because I was fed up with getting so many calls from his people.

Do they not realize that most people really don’t enjoy get- ting called at supper time, or on Sunday evenings at 8-9pm.

Remember the days when no one would have even thought of calling before 9am or after 8pm and certainly not during supper time or even on a Sunday for that matter.

I have heard more and more people talking lately about how upset they get at all the political phone calls they receive before voting. I say, just don’t vote for the ones that continually insist on calling your home, especial- ly those that have to call on more than a few occasions and usually just as you sit down to eat

Maybe they might just get the hint after a while..

We received a call at 9:16pm a couple of weeks ago and the people couldn’t understand why we were so upset.

I for one will be so glad when this political nonsense is over and done with. I’ll be honest, I am not a very political savvy person. In fact, most times, I feel that if it wasn’t for much of the political nonsense and spending, we’d most likely be in pretty good shape around the country!

I am sick of the oppositions continually mutilating and warping commercials with the little outtakes of several words that make it sound like the other does or does not want something. When in fact, if they allowed the entire para- graph to be heard, it would probably be a completely different meaning.

I am sick and tired of hearing what they will do, instead of what they might have done. I am sick and tired of hearing about all the promises, when in fact we all know they can never keep all they make.

NOTICE

If you could count all of the promises made by politicians over the past hundred years, there would be millions of them and if you were to believe all the promises made over the past 100 years, there would be absolutely nothing wrong with

our country!! Really!!! Think about it, if they kept every one of their promises made, every- thing would be already resolved and we shouldn’t have a problem in the World!

Everyone would be happy and we’d all live with world peace at hand. There would be no wars, unemployment, welfare or higher taxes and we’d all

live happily ever after!

So, make sure you listen to all the promises, and make sure you vote for the people who seem like they just might be able to keep them.

Does the political season ever really end any more? Just when you think it is over - they’re baaaack!!

Earthtalk that you have pub- lished in your magazine seems to be off on a lot of scientific research on some of their posi- tions stated in your magazine.

I noticed the recent one on ask- ing about the introduction of wolves and other species back into our ecosystem. The 170 on the wolf count in Yellowstone is a total joke being that the wolf population has exploded and has gone out of the park boundaries.

Idaho is just one of the states where populations of wolves have effected elk herds beyond possibilities of not being able to recover. Lost market value being paid to ranchers by so- called defenders of wildlife! Have your ranchers stopped complaining yet of lost live stock. NO! Its because this pro- gram isn't working. This organization as well as PETA are not conservationist. Their preservationist. Two different groups of people. These same people would pick saving the life of a wolf over a human.

Call the Hawkeye News. They will probably know just how many wolves are now roaming Yellowstone as well as the other states out there.

We have a loon society in our

state who think nothing but about the loons. Doesn't matter what they've done to fish popu- lations in our ponds and lakes. Catch any hornpout in your favorite little pond that you caught when you were a kid.

Fish and game cant stock 8 to 10 inch brookies because their eaten by these overpopulated birds that the loon society would have you believe we only have several hundred in the state. I love the sounds of the loons in the morning fog too, but enough with the fake num- bers that these societies put out.

Global Warming! Been going on since the last Ice Age and- with the recent information out their in the news and on the internet, were finding out just how stupid we are. Don't want to put any body out of work in this scam. May take away the all mighty tax dollars needed to fond this bogust bunch of crap. Maybe what needs to happen is what caused the last ice age then the global warmest will have to have funding for the big freeze which most likely exterminated life on its last round of hurrahs when this devastating event happened.

Enough for me. These are just a few of the things I have read in what is a good magazine. Earth talk sounds like a bunch of liberals who don't know how

Letter To The Editor_______________________________________ Dear Northcountry News,

to tell the truth. Put their side of the story up, but also the other side that is out there. Other than Earth talk, keep up this great mag. I enjoy most of it.

Sincerely,

Bob Weeks Danbury, NH Publisher’s note:

Thanks very much for your let- ter & opinion Bob, we appreci- ate it. However, the reason we run Earth Talk is so they may voice theirs also. We do not always agree on everything that we print either, but there are always two sides to a story and plenty of different thoughts & opinions! Thanks again!

I just ran across a quotation that seems to fit "Hiking with Tom & Atticus" (a column I never miss and I'm glad Tom is getting well!):

To The Editor______ by Milan Kundera--

"Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jeal- ousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glori- ous afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring...it was peace!"

To The Editor______

Thank you for such a nice pub- lication. We were camping in the area recently and picked up the Northcountry News to bring back to our site.

Both my husband and I could- n’t put it down!

A very pleasant surprise to see such a nice paper, when most others are filled to the brim with politics, death and bad news.

Loved the pictures. Keep up the wonderful work and we will be getting ourselves a subscription shortly. That way, we can stay attached to the local area even when we can’t be there camp- ing!

Thanks again.
