Midweek, Wed. - Fri., September 08 - 10, 2010 Balita ENTERTAINMENTKris left nothing for James? PNS – HOW true is the rumor that

James Yap said that ex-wife Kris Aquino siphoned all his money, the reason why he is asking for a bigger contract fee from his team?

Camp demurs on the issue as they feel that the queen of all media is being used again. Kris in a recent interview has asked James to stop using the name of her late mother, former President Cory Aquino. “Kris never touched James’ salary,” says our source. “What we know is that James has been sending half of what he’s earning to his family in Escalante.” If it’s true, it clearly runs counter to what James’ legal counsel, Lorna Kapu- nan has said, “...James daw is demanding P80 million from Kris. That’s not true! We never made any demands for money and we never will. What James will file, when he’s ready to file, is what is provided by law, which is that the properties be equally split.”

Kris’ camp says otherwise. They

say James wants to get the One Roxas property where Kris, Baby James and and

‘American’ powers to top of box offi ce

LOS ANGELES, September 6, 2010 (AFP) – “The American,” the spy thriller headlined by Geoge Clooney, soared to the top of the North American box office this weekend beating gory action film “Machete,” final figures showed Monday. “The American,” hailed by critics as a visually captivating but restrained depar- ture for Hollywood star Clooney, earned 13.1 million dollars in U.S. and Canadian theaters, industry tracker Exhibitor Rela- tions said.

Joshua are now staying, and another condo unit in Makati. James is also after the 3, 000 sq. m. lot in San Mateo. “Pati raw mamahaling sasakyan, gus- tong kunin ni James,” says our source. What puzzles Kris’ camp was the fact

that after James was granted the visitation rights to his son, Baby James, he flew to the U.S. “Inconsistent, di ba?” asked our source. “Dapat sinamantala na niya ‘yun kung talagang miss na miss na niya ang kanyang anak.”■

“Machete,” mixing violence with a campy tribute to 1970s exploitation mov- ies from directors Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis, came in second with an estimated 11.4 million dollars over the Friday-Saturday-Sunday period. Last week’s winner “Takers,” starring Hayden Christensen, Idris Elba and singers Chris Brown and T.I., earned 10.9 million dollars and fell to third place in its second week of release.

Fourth place went to the gruesome documentary-style horror movie “The Last Exorcism,” which fell back from its runner-up spot last weekend, taking 7.4 million dollars.

The movie, directed by Daniel Stamm and co-produced by Eli Roth, a director known for his bloody thrillers, follows a disillusioned minister supposedly filming his last exorcism for a documentary. At number five was new release “Going the Distance,” a romantic comedy starring Drew Barrymore and Justin Long about a couple living on different U.S. coast who try to make their relationship work. It earned 6.9 million dollars in its opening weekend.

In sixth place was “The Expendables,” Sylvester Stallone’s film about a group of weathered mercenaries out to topple a South American dictator, which earned 6.6 million dollars in its fourth week in theaters.

Falling to the seventh spot was “The Other Guys,” the latest Will Ferrell slap- stick comedy, about two mismatched po- lice officers paired on a high-profile crime investigation, which had a 5.3-million- dollar take at the box office. “Eat, Pray, Love,” Ryan Murphy’s ad- aptation of Elizabeth Gilbert’s novel about a divorcee’s jaunt to Italy, Indonesia and India, starring Julia Roberts, fell to the eighth position with a take of 4.8 million

Amy reveals own problem

PNS – “FACE to Face” begins with a lot of fighting and mouthing invectives between quarreling parties. Caught in between is host, Amy Perez who has man- aged to remain cool and collected amidst the physical danger.

In one episode, she got carried away as she revealed the love/hate relationship with her own mom. Now, they are the best of friends. It is not easy to host a reality show like “Face to Face” and we have to congratulate Amy for putting sanity into it. The presence of the counseling trio (a lawyer, psychologist and a priest) ends the show on a positive note . Bravo to them for convincing the warring parties to forget and forgive. We hope acceptance and forgive- ness stays not just for a day. Meanwhile, the show has spawned a weekly drama anthology called “Untold Stories.” Amy will also host the show (ala Charo Santos for “MMK”), and the stories are culled from “Face to Face.” ■
