Nowentering its sixth year, theARCShowin Januarywill incorporate two newfeature areas based on two growing industry sectors. TheUrban LightingShowcase highlights a sector that has important social and environmental implications. Four standswill showthe latest innovations for outdoor public spaces. TheRetail LightingShowcase demonstrates a buoyantmarket for lighting projects,with retailers focusing on reducing their energy consumption, costs and carbon footprints. TheDesignGallery, themain decorative feature at the show, has been extended to includemore exhibitors. Therewill also be aNightSeeing programheld by urban lighting artist LeniSchwendinger.Shewill provide a talk encompassing a basic understanding of the systems lighting our cities, followed by a nightwalk in London.

Guerilla lighting returned to the capital as part of the London Festival of Architecture. The event was initiated by the PLDA, sponsored by Holophane, Urbis and Fagerhult, and supported by Southwark Council, Better Bankside, Team London Bridge and the ILE. Sites lit up included the skatepark at White’s Grounds, a former industrial complex called Tanneries, the Hop Exchange, and Little Dorrit gardens.

Light Projects has supplied 18 Lumascape inground 343 uplighters for a refurbishment scheme on the lighting of the Queen Elizabeth Gates in Hyde Park, as designed and specified by Light + Design Associates. They were supplied with both 35W and 70W CDM-T lamps using Lumascape’s PureOptics Dichroic reflector system, which range from 10-60 degrees for precise illumination, bringing the gates to life.
