conservation support to Bohlin Cywinski Jackson Architects, the American practice behind the concept designs for all of Apple’s buildings. Gensler, who acted as the ‘architect of record’ on the

project, adapted the standard colour palette used in Apple’s shops to preserve the character of the 1870s buildings. In a departure fromthe customary materials palette used by Apple, the historic building's existing brick walls and cast iron structural framewere carefully restored to formthe backdrop for the retail space. Building services, including themechanical ductwork and LED lighting, were custom-designed as deliberatelymodern insertions into the historic fabric. ‘We are thrilled to open a newstore in this amazing location in Covent Garden,’ said Ron Johnson, Apple's senior vice president of Retail. ‘Our store on Regent Street is one of themost popular and

successful Apple stores in theworld, andwe think the people of Londonwill love the newApple Store Covent Garden just

asmuch.’

The Apple Store Covent Garden is Apple's 300th retail store.
