BHSU and the Arts


BHSU is a part of the Black Hills arts scene, collaborating with community members to host concerts, plays, and special events, like the Johanna Meier Opera Theatre Institute, Summer Theatre performances, and the Lakota Omniciye Powwow.


Our students not only participate in campus performance groups, they are also involved in numerous aspects of our local community performances.


Student Internships Area businesses welcome student interns and provide valuable work experience and network building opportunities.


Student Research


Undergraduate and graduate students conduct research with faculty members across every discipline. This exposure to research methodologies and equipment benefi t those who go on to professional or graduate schools.


Not only do these experiences enhance your college experience and help you build valuable connections, they benefi t our local and regional communities and contribute to a stronger global society.


Research and Internships


At BHSU research and internships abound. The world-class Sanford Underground Science and Engineering Laboratory (SUSEL), just 20 minutes from our campus, is providing research and internship opportunities for BHSU students.


International Experiences


With over 16 countries represented at BHSU, you can meet and learn from students from a variety of cultures. As a BHSU student, you will also have the chance to study in, travel to, and explore other countries.


Art and Culture


Att end one of the many cultural events hosted on campus, like the annual Lakota Omniciye Powwow, or the numerous concerts and plays held during the school year. Join the expanding theatre program or one of our seven music groups.
