News: • New Club Shop operated by Touchline Sports now has replica shirts for sale.
• Craig Parker sits top of Div 1 scorers chart, and Nathan Stone has scored 3 in two games.
• Welcome to Conor McCloskey ex Colchester United.
Well here we go again another season is underway and the first team have made a very good start, the only disappointment being the lack lustre performance away at Tilbury. We have had our first game in the FA Cup which the lads fought back to grab a win against Daventry Town, whose facilities were absolutely superb. Our Bank Holiday win over Maldon & Tiptree at home was a good team performance and Nathan Stone made his debut after suspension scoring twice.
Annual Car Boot & Fete
On Sunday 29th August Needham Market was a hive of activity as the weather had started out dull but dry and all the stalls and visitors had ar- rived at “Bloomfields” in good spirits and the Mayor of Needham Market, Mike Norris, duly opened the fete at 1pm. A number of visitors had ar- rived and were enjoying themselves but then the “fickle finger of fate” (or should it be FETE) decided to send us a good shower of rain. So all of our guests adjourned to the Club- house for refreshments with the good food supplied by the ladies in the kitchen going down a treat, I don’t think that the ice cream was in great demand though.
Once the rain had stopped more people arrived and the attractions did a roaring trade, even the victim in the stocks did not mind getting hit by more water-filled sponges. But the weather was not to be denied and when a second heavy downpour had people scurrying towards the clubhouse again it was decided to close early and by 4.30pm you would
not have known such an event had taken place. In spite of the weather the people of Needham Market once again showed their support for the football club and helped raise a healthy sum.
Suffice to say that the club intends to run the event again in 2011 and will hope that the weather allows more of the local community to en- joy the facilities and the atmosphere at “Bloomfields”.
So a BIG THANK YOU to all those people who worked tirelessly to make the event a success and to those that donated items for the draw, tombola, books, cakes, etc. The comments from those attending were mostly complimentary I only had one complaint, about lack of signs to the football club, so we will need to address that.
Let’s look forward to another great season with success on and off the playing field.
