Healthy Hippie Tips
At every festival I went to this summer, there was someone holding a sign that said “Free Hugs.” The people holding the signs always looked
really happy. I
thought...they must be on to something! Hugs make hippies healthy and happy. Here is why hugs are healthy:
~A hug from a family member or a good friend can bring back positive memoriesand makes the person get- ting hugged relive them.
~Hugs create feelings of acceptance and compas- sion.
When you feel good from a hug you will feel more relaxed and your blood pressure can actually go down.
~It is an easy way to feel connected to some- one and to show them that you care.
~If you get a lot of hugs, the time you spend be- ing happy is more than people that don’t get a lot of hugs.
~People who hug more often tend to be more open about their emotions and develop a greater sense of closeness and compassion for those around them.
~Remember that not everyone likes to be hugged, and make sure you ask before hugging someone. Getting punched for giving an unwanted hug is not healthy!
