Up near Bristol, Landcare Tree Nursery at Old Sodbury offers a range of trees and shrubs. So wherever you are, there is a nursery near you with a wide range of trees and shrubs giving you that wonderful colour of autumn. Landcare was founded in 1976 and over the years has built a reputation for quality trees and shrubs. A small and dedicated team of six works hard to offer the service which has made them a major tree planting business throughout the Gloucestershire, Bristol and Somerset areas.
Exbury Gardens are staging a number of events with the emphasis on autumn colour for its spectacular 200 acre site. On Wednesday 20th October an RHS Event called Autumn Colour is being held with Exbury as a superb backdrop for autumn colour – from the dwarf Acer palmatum casting fiery reflections in the Top Pond to the bright displays from the deciduous azaleas and dogwoods. Assistant Head Gardener, Linda Runnacles will show plants of special interest including Japanese and other maples, sweet gums, tupelo trees and Exbury’s National Plant Collections of Nyssa and Oxydendrum. There will also be a special viewing of the garden’s collection of Nerine samiensis.
Highlights will include Yard Wood, famed for its autumn colour, Home Wood and the Park, with its birch and cherry collections. Call 0845 612 1253 and quote booking ref: 7185. RHS members £21.95; Non-members: £26.95.
Everyone thinks of Exbury in the spring, but the gardens are just as glorious in autumn with fiery colours from maples, dogwoods and deciduous azaleas. Festival of Autumn Colours is being held from Sat 9th October – Sun 7th November
The subtle light tones of autumn reflect these colours dramatically. Special Autumn Trail will lead visitors to the best of the colour.
